Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.
Five Happy Things {Week 486}
Last week I finished Godmersham Park by Gill Hornby and I enjoyed it so much I ordered a copy of her other novel about Jane Austen, Miss Austen. This is equally good and I’m enjoying reading it whenever I can. I find Jane Austen a fascinating character and am quite fascinated by reading fiction about her rather than her own novels for a change.
My daughter is really enjoyed her cooking lessons at school and has wanted to bake more at home too. Last week we decorated some ready-made biscuits from M&S, as well as some delicious chocolate button pretzels. These were so much fun to make and really quick too. She soon started adding biscuits and marshmallows and created her own little treats.
I started and finished my first Wimperis embroidery kit last week. I bought it second hand (I’m totally trying to save money this year!) but it hadn’t been started. The pattern featured an envelope full of Spring flowers which I thought was really pretty. Last week we spotted snowdrops, daffodils and crocus on our dog walks and we all are ready for Spring.
Our bathroom renovation is coming along quite quickly now. All the furniture and cabinets are in, as is the new floor and my husband has started tiling the walls. We chose a gorgeous teal colour for the wall tiles and they are just lovely. I can’t wait for it to all be finished soon.
I received my swap from the Benzie Design Valentine Exchange I recently took part in. I loved stitching a sweet felt bear (felt is my favourite material to work with) and received Valentine themed sweet canvas and envelope. Valentine’s Day definitely brightens up this time of year.
Have a great week!
