Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. This is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Five Happy Things {Week 471}
I stitched a lot of new badges on the kids Scout uniform last week. My daughter received 9, whilst my son received 14. I actually enjoyed stitching them on as they are a great reminder of all the skills they are learning, but a little part of me thought they should be stitching them on themselves!
On Friday my daughter carved the pumpkin she picked up from The Pop Up Farm. She designed it herself and won a prize at Scouts for her design. It’s currently outside as we’re hoping it will last another week until Halloween.
We enjoyed an epic walk around the Lido at the weekend whilst doing a Geocaching Adventure Lab. This is a little like a traditional geocache, but is a longer scavenger hunt with clues to solve along the way. It kept my daughter busy on our walk
Last week was quiet as my husband was away in Malaga with work. I binge watched Will Trent on Disney+ whilst he was away. I also had my last day at work. Now I have a couple of week off before I start my new job!
We drove all across London to visit the Crossness Pumping Station at Abbey Wood at see the beam engine steaming. We all had to wear hard hats and goggles which my daughter thought was hilarious. It was an amazing site to see and well worth the drive. The Victorian buildings are very atmospheric and have been used for film and television, including Victor Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes and Penny Worth amongst others.
Have a great week.

October 24, 2023 at 1:02 pmI like how you shared with us your week. Doing a badge is not easy but it’s very exciting. I did that when I was in high school for our project.

Stitching all those Scout badges on your kids’ uniforms must have been a rewarding task, showcasing their skill development. Your daughter’s pumpkin carving win is fantastic, and I hope the pumpkin lasts until Halloween. The Geocaching Adventure Lab adds an adventurous twist to your family’s weekend. Plus, it’s lovely to hear that you have some time off before starting your new job. It seems like a week filled with accomplishments, family activities, and a well-deserved break.
