On our recent trip to the Isle of Wight we made a couple of visits to The Garlic Farm. It’s a proper working farm with a farm shop, restaurant and farm walks. It had been a while since our last visit and we wanted to eat in their amazing restaurant.
Exploring The Garlic Farm, Isle of Wight
The Garlic Farm can be found on Mersley Lane in Newchurch. It’s in a little valley and a real sun trap. There is plenty to do at The Garlic Farm so we parked our car in the free car park and headed to the farm shop. The farm shop is huge and you can buy garlic bulbs (to eat and also to grow), as well as a huge range of garlic products.
We stocked up on our favourite Garlic Mayonnaise, Tomato Ketchup with Garlic along with a few new products for us to try. We also bought a couple of bulbs of garlic to try growing at home. We planted them this weekend and I can’t wait to watch them grow!
As well as the far shop there are several displays about the history of The Garlic Farm, as well as the archaeology of the site. You exit the shop by a courtyard where you can see some garlic growing.
The restaurant and Allium Cafe are in a beautiful building with a small outside seating area. We visited for breakfast as well as lunch and both meals were delicious.
For breakfast the whole family enjoyed The Garlic Farm Breakfast which consisted of smoked bacon, pork & garlic sausage, garlic mushrooms, Isle of Wight tomatoes, Hazelgrove Farm fried egg, sweet potato wedges, baked beans and thick cut toast.
On a different day we went for lunch and we enjoyed the BBQ Pulled Salt Beef Burger – slow cooked salt beef with BBQ sauce, Monterey Jack cheddar and homemade garlicky coleslaw in a brioche bun, salt and pepper fries with garlic mayonnaise. I tried the Black Garlic Ice Cream for dessert which was amazing!
I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the sign outside the toilet 🙂
It’s such a fun place to visit and we would definitely recommend a trip to The Garlic Farm if you’ve visiting the Isle of Wight. After breakfast we went for a walk to the timber play area with trim trail and nest swing which the kids enjoyed. There are also longer walks and tractor rides.
The whole site is dog friendly so we were able to take our little pup which was a bonus. We’re hoping to go back and stay in one of their yurts one day.
The shop, restaurant and farm walks are open daily from 9 to 5.
There is a free car park for visitors
