Easy Gingerbread Halloween mummies - the gingerbread house

Easy Gingerbread Halloween mummies

Posted on October 19, 2016 by jenny

With both my children at school our crafts now take place after school and at the weekends. I have perfected the art of setting up an invitation to play which helps them both unwind from school and bring out their creativity. This week we had fun with our Easy Gingerbread Halloween mummies and I’m going to let you into a little secret – I didn’t bake my own gingerbread!

Easy Gingerbread Halloween mummies

This is a super quick and fun craft activity because it uses shop bought gingerbread men! I love making my own but sometimes you just need to give the kids something to do whilst you get the dinner. This was fun and all you need is: shop-bought gingerbread men, white icing, green gel icing and sweetie eyes.

We wanted to turn our gingerbread men into mummies so added a little dot of icing and the sweetie eyes on the biscuits.

Then we used the icing to create the bandages. My son squeezed the icing out, covering the gingerbread men.

On some of them he added buttons and on one of them he used green icing! He had fun experimenting.

They all turned out differently but looked good. We left them to dry slightly before trying out our creations.

They made a pretty good after school snack and would make a great Halloween snack.

My kids love making gingerbread mummies too. There was one year I made little gingerbread mummy Scottie dogs too – so cute! 🙂
