Autumn has definitely arrived, despite that mini heatwave we enjoyed earlier this week. The days are getting shorter and we have already enjoyed homemade blackberry and apple pie! I love Autumn and I’ve been enjoying sitting with my children round the table after a day at school. We love to craft as we chat about our day and had so much with this DIY paper pumpkin garland. It makes a great decoration for Autumn and you can keep it up right up until Halloween!
List of craft supplies:
Coloured papers
Twine, yarn or thick string
Craft glue
Pencil
Scissors
Pumpkin template
How to make a DIY Paper Pumpkin Garland:
Select 3 to 4 different shades of orange coloured paper; you can also add different autumnal shades such as brown, red etc. Select green coloured papers for the leaves, and brown coloured paper for the stems.
Trace the template patterns on the selected papers and cut them out.
Take a pumpkin piece and attach one of the stems on to the top part of the pumpkin cutout with glue.
Take a leaf and glue it next to either side of the stem.
Prepare 5 or more paper pumpkins for the garland. Prepare a piece of string and some small pieces of left over paper.
Take a paper pumpkin and a small paper strip. Apply glue on the paper strip and place the stem and pumpkin overlapped part under the string, with the pumpkin’s wrong side facing towards the string.
Attach the glued paper strip on the string, where it overlaps the pumpkin and joins the pumpkin with the string.
One by one attach more pumpkins to the string until you’re happy with the length of the garland.
Once you’re done attaching the paper pumpkins on the string, allow the glue to dry and then flip the garland to the right side to hang it on a wall.

September 16, 2021 at 12:27 pmI love this time of year and my kids tend to want to become a bit more arts and crafty in the cooler months. I’ll bookmark this to make with them for sure!
