Cricut book page art for World Book Day

If you’re a parent of a child in Infant or Junior School then I’m sure you will be aware that World Book Day is coming up next week. Our family are not fans of dressing up so we are relieved that the children only have to take their favourite book in as they will have plenty of time to read during school.

Viking recently asked if I would like to craft something special for World Book Day. They knew that we all love reading and asked us to remember a story that sparked our imagination, then craft a scene, character or object from our chosen book. The children had so many ideas that it was really hard to choose just one.

We’ve been studying Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream at the secondary school where I work and that inspired the Cricut book page art for World Book Day that I wanted to share with you today. I love using my Cricut so when Viking sent us some craft supplies, including pages from old books to craft with, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. By the way, you don’t need a Cricut machine to make this craft, you can easily hand draw the letters if you prefer.

Easy Cricut book page art for World Book Day:

Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream is one of my favourite plays. I love it when Helena says in Act 3, Scene 2 “That’s right, Hermia won’t hurt Helena even if you try to help her. Oh, when she’s angry, she is keen and shrewd! She was a vixen when she went to school. And though she be but little,¬†she is fierce.”

This quotation reminds me of my daughter (she is very fierce!) so I thought I would recreate it as a piece of book page art for World Book Day.

I typed up the part of the quotation I wanted to use in Cricut Design Space and cut them out from black vinyl.

I made some of the words larger than the others so the quotation would really stand out. I weeded the letters and added transfer tape.

As this was a piece of book page art to celebrate World Book Day, I chose to recycle a page from an old book to display the words.

I lined the vinyl letters up and placed them over the book page, removing the Transfer Tape. Then I framed the finished page.

I love the end result and want to make more art with my favourite quotations. Do you have a favourite book or quotation?

This looks incredible, I love how the words stand out on the page background and that is also my favourite Shakespearean quote, so a clever way to show it off x
