One thing I love about crafting with my children is the chance to try new craft activities with them. They are always keen to try anything and were pretty excited about a parcel of coloured sand products we received from Baker Ross. We received 6 bottles of Fluorescent Coloured Sand, plastic animal sand art bottles and sand picture sheets.
First we made the Animal Sand Art bottles. The pack contained 6 different animals, each had a screw top, as well as a funnel. The children used the bottles of sand to create colourful layers.
You can either pour or sprinkle the sand which meant it was easy to control how much came out. The results are sweet and would make great gifts.
We also had fun with the sand picture sheets, which contained 8 assorted designs (fish, boat, flower, robot, butterfly, rainbow, spaceman and dinosaur). The top layer is pre-cut revealing a sticky surface although we didn’t know this so used a glue stick!
They found these pictures totally absorbing and really enjoyed creating pictures with sand.
I was a little nervous about the bottles of sand but I needn’t have worried. We used a large plastic tray to contain any spills but there weren’t any. My children were really careful and had loads of fun.
