    Making Autumn decor with the Autumn Craftpod

    As soon as the kids went back to school I couldn’t help thinking how to bring some Autumn vibes into our house. I found some sweet Autumnal candles in Primark which I bought and squirreled away for a few weeks. Now we’re in October I feel like I can bring out my pumpkin candles, and we have conkers and acorns which the kids have picked up on our walks. Making Autumn decor with the Autumn Craftpod I love my makes to be seasonal. We’ve made delicious gingerbread biscuits and I was delighted when my Autumn Craftpod box landed on the…

    {Summertime stitching} felt waterlily pincushion

    Last week we were away in the Netherlands which must be one of the child-friendly countries we’ve ever visited. In fact, we love the Netherlands so much it was our third visit with kids! I made sure to pack a few small sewing projects in case there was any free time – there wasn’t very much! Before we left I finished the felt waterlily pincushion from the Summer Craftpod box. This is one of my favourite subscription boxes, it’s sent every season and is always great fun to stitch. Each box contains two craft projects and this one contained a…

    Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery

    Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery from my Cotton Clara Hoop Club Box 21. The subscription box contained two hoops projects, an embroidery sampler featuring hearts, and the Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery. I really liked the Platinum Jubilee hoop. I was pretty restrained with the amount of money I spent on Jubilee memorabilia and ended up with a lovely souvenir tin from M&S and a limited edition tin of Tate & Lyle’s Golden Syrup which I couldn’t resist. After the contents are consumed I can re-use both to store sewing notions and pens, so nothing will be wasted. We had a lot…

    Spring stitching with the Spring Craftpod 2022 box

    Spring is my favourite season, along with Autumn. I love watching my garden come to life after the winter months and this year I have reaped the rewards of all the planting I did last year. Spring stitching with the Spring Craftpod 2022 box My garden is full of wild violets which I can never bear to pull up. I’m glad I didn’t as one of the projects in my latest subscription box was a sweet embroidered glasses case featuring violets. I do love my crafty subscription boxes and the Spring Craftpod box was full of treats. I especially loved…

    Letterbox-friendly Silly Greens review

    I’ve mentioned a few times that I love a subscription box. There’s something lovely about receiving mail that pampers you, entertains you or teaches you something new. I’ve tried a few over the years but was happy to discover Silly Greens who send live seed packs by post! I love my garden and this is always an exciting time of year. My windowsills are packed with seed trays and my sweet peas, runner beans and sunflowers are growing and I’ll soon be able to put them outside. Which meant I had plenty of room to try a gifted Silly Greens…

    Blackbird’s nest appliqué project

    I’m sure I’m not the only person with a craft stash. This year I want to work my way through some of it. I do love a seasonal project and with Spring in the air I turned to one of the projects I didn’t make from a previous Craftpod subscription box. The box contained two projects. I made the felt pin cushion, but for some reason never started the Blackbird’s nest appliqué project. I have never done much appliqué, so I think this was one I put aside for when I had more time. Blackbird’s nest appliqué project Thankfully I…

    Starry night owl embroidery {Winter Craftpod}

    I look forward to receiving happy mail – craft subscription boxes, craft books and magazines are all welcome to land on my door mat. I’ve subscribed to the Craftpod subscription box for a while. I love the mix of embroidery projects and seasonal projects. The Winter Craftpod box arrived just before Christmas. Starry night owl embroidery The Winter Craftpod contained three projects – the Starry Night Owl embroidery, Owl scissors case and a paper garland. The first project I made was the felt Owl scissors case. I always enjoy working with felt and this was a sweet project to stitch.…

    Wild Rose and Strawberries {Summer Craftpod}

    I love the few subscription boxes I sign up for regularly. They are always something I look forward to and the contents usually keep me busy for weeks. The Summer Craftpod sub box arrived right at the beginning of Summer and I have finally finished it. Wild Rose and Strawberries {Summer Craftpod} The Summer 2021 Craftpod contained two summer themed projects to enjoy. One was the Wild Rose and Strawberry Embroidery, with the pattern printed onto 100% cotton fabric, with 7 DMC embroidery threads, in a 5 inch hoop. I really loved the way the embroidery threads complimented each other.…

    Valentine paper crafting {Love Paper Box from MakeBox + Co}

    I always feel that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated but simply. It feels like I’m still paying off the excesses of Christmas in February and I want Valentine’s Day to be meaningful more than anything else. My daughter has already asked when she’s getting for Valentine’s Day so I’ve been emphasising the handmade nature of our gifts this year. The children have been busy making cards and have bought small chocolate gifts for their friends. I love that my 8 year old made a card for her boyfriend, I really hope she gets one back. Love Paper Box from MakeBox…
