Disclosure – post in collaboration with Omio With half term approaching I can’t help but plan our next family adventure. There are so many places I want to explore with the kids. We all work hard and our holidays are a chance to kick back and relax and enjoy the opportunity to spend time together. Planning travel with kids The current situation means we will be staying in the UK this half term. This is fine by me as there are so many places I want to explore in the UK. Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write. Monday Happy Things {Week 361} Last week my son started secondary school which was a bit of a rollercoaster for him and us. He looked very grown up in his new uniform. Two school runs in different places at two different times is very exciting (and…

You all know that I love to explore my local area at the weekend. It’s easy to live somewhere and assume you know the area because you do the school run or shop on the high street. The first Lockdown we experienced last year meant we REALLY explored our local area. We took the chance to go on walks and re-visit them over and over again. We visited in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, and some of those places are now our favourite places to go with the kids and the dog. However, we are still discovering new places on…

Over the weekend my daughter was given homework from her new teacher. Thankfully it wasn’t Maths or English, the class was told to go and have some fun! So we seized the chance to take Little Sis to her favourite park. Her brother was able to take his model boat on the boating lake whilst we went over to the amazing children’s playground. We’re written about Northala Fields before, it is the best place to go and have sone fun! Little Sis was recently gifted the new Care Bears Togetherness Bear from Basic Fun. We have been fans of Care…

It seems ages ago we enjoyed our family holiday on the Isle of Wight. We’ve been fortunate to visit many times and had a great time exploring our favourite haunts. There were new places too, one of which was the delightfully named Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe. We are a family that just loves board games so we couldn’t wait to visit. Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe A Board Game Cafe is a cafe with board games you can play. You can just turn up and play, or you can play and enjoy food and drink whilst you play.…

A few weeks ago we found ourselves in London for the first time in ages. I miss London so much but I haven’t felt like getting on the tube with other people. However I’ve really missed everything about London so we took the chance off a day with no plans and headed into London. Our first stop was The Globe on the Southbank for a special storytelling session of Twelfth Night. I’ve wanted to take the children to The Globe for ages and the special session for children seemed perfect. Shakespeare’s plays aren’t totally accessible for children but the storytelling…

Family time is important and we love any activity we can do together. Board games have always been a firm favourite and we were delighted to receive a copy of Exploding Minions from Exploding Kittens. I can’t believe it’s over 2 years since we reviewed the original Exploding Kittens which we still enjoy playing. The hit game sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Exploding Minions is very similar but with Minion-themed cards (which is perfect because we are huuuuuuge Minion fans!). Exploding Minions from Exploding Kittens The Minions have invaded the Exploding Kittens Universe! Play the Minions-themed version of the…

Living in the ‘burbs means we get the best of both worlds. Easy access into London on the tube, and easy access to the surrounding countryside. For the last few years we’ve enjoyed trips out of London to explore lavender fields, sunflower farms and pumpkin patches. All summer we’ve been looking forward to our annual trip to the prettiest sunflower field near London, just 30 minutes from where we live. The prettiest sunflower field near London We’ve visited the Pop Up Farm before and have always enjoyed our visits. Only 15 miles from London, they run an experiential PYO farm…
