Last weekend we visited Kew Gardens which is just down the road from us. We love our walks and were hoping for some gorgeous Spring flowers. We were not disappointed. Kew Gardens, or to give it its proper name, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is the most biodiverse place on earth. It felt like a long time since our last visit, looking back the kids were tiny. So it felt like the right time to make another visit. You must pre-book tickets and some buildings are closed in line with national guidance. Children’s playground at Kew We entered Kew via…

One of my strongest memories of my days at secondary school, alongside teachers and lessons of course, was the food from the school canteen. I made pretty poor food choices when I was younger although it clearly didn’t do me any harm. In fact I don’t remember there much being many healthy choices, certainly not like the secondary school I work in today. I’ve been thinking a lot about secondary schools recently as my son just found out which school he will be going to in September. It made me nostalgic for the classic school dinner cake I enjoyed at…

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write. Monday Happy List {Week 333} We are all excited about the thought of both our children finally being back at school from next Monday. The news has definitely helped us get through the last few weeks. Last weekend we ventured out to Pinner Memorial Park, a lovely park right in the centre of Pinner. It’s a lovely large park with a pond, aviary, children’s playground and cafe. Exploring Pinner Memorial Park with kids Pinner Memorial Park is on land that was part of the West House estate, at one time the home of Lord Nelson’s daughter Horatia. In 1934 part of the grounds were acquired by Harrow UDC for public open space. Additional land was acquired in 1949 as well as West House, and the park opened as Pinner Memorial Park in 1950. Half term has been hard work. Although my children needed a break from 6 weeks of school work, it’s been super tough not having much to do. We made plans and lists of things we wanted to do but these have been broken up by meal times and dog walks – not our usual half term days out and trips away. I’m hoping that this will be our last half term stuck at home. We’re lucky to have a lovely home but nothing beats a day out at a new place, seeing family and friends. We have dug very deep…
