You all know that I love my monthly subscription boxes. I find that a monthly magazine and subscription box landing on my door mat really encourages me to be creative. I find it hard to see projects through (hello Shipping Forecast Quilt project!) but a monthly sub box is the perfect size for me. I was kindly sent a Craftiosity Sub Box to review. It’s a subscription box of modern craft kits (with single kits also available), with a completely new craft and make every other month. A lovely box was handed to me by my postie (it’s too large to…

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Mollie Makes Scandi Florals Hoop Kit The kit with issue 76 of Mollie Makes was designed by Zeena Shah and contained 1x plastic embroidery hoop, printed cotton fabric, as well as embroidery threads (pink, aqua, coral, yellow and blue) and a sewing needle. I gave the…

It feels like an age since I stitched something. Clothes alterations just don’t count although it does feel like I’m constantly stitching badges on my son’s Beaver uniform! Our whole family love Star Wars so when I spotted a Star Wars felt kit in the shops I knew it would make a great Christmas present for myself my husband. He cannot sew to save his life so I had the happy job of making them up for him. My children were equally delighted to see the set and immediately started dictating which ones I should make first. Of course…

I’ve been reading craft blogs for a long time and one of the first I discovered was Wise Craft. The author, Blair Stocker, has followed her very successful book with a second, called Wise Craft Quilts: A Guide to Turning Beloved Fabrics into Meaningful Patchwork. Quilts are stories we compose with fabric and thread, providing physical and metaphorical warmth, and Wise Craft Quilts is about creating these stories. Whether making a quilt from baby’s first clothes or from a collection of Tyvek race numbers stored away in a box, sewing pieces like these into quilt form creates a new level of appreciation…

I regularly write about books and magazines I’ve been enjoying. I’ve read quite a few books lately but since finishing my last one, review coming soon …. I couldn’t resist picking up a copy of The Big Comic Relief Crafternoon to read. I’m a big fan of Mollie Makes and am still enjoying the Mollie Makes Creativity I told you about here. The Big Comic Relief Crafternoon I picked up a copy in Sainsbury’s along with the weekly shop. It cost £8.99 with £5 of that going directly to Comic Relief projects. The magazine/bookazine contains over 50 crafty makes for Red Nose Day…

As you know we’re away at the moment and really noticing the signs of Spring. The weather has been warmer and we’ve been looking for Spring flowers wherever we go. I think Spring is one of my favourite seasons and can’t wait for some sunny skies and warmth in the sun. Spring also brings an abundance of special days – birthdays, Mothers Day and Easter. Spring crafts for kids We were sent a lovely bundle of Spring crafts from Baker Ross. I’ve worked with them for a while and my children love to see a Baker Ross box waiting for…

The other day I made a super sweet fabric envelope for my daughter. Yesterday I made something for my son from Duck Tape! As much as I loved the Liberty envelope I knew he would like something a little more robust so crafted an envelope from Duck Tape. Duck Tape Valentine envelope craft I love crafting with Duck Tape and they have a great range of colours for this time of year. Envelopes are pretty simple to make and you an make them any size, perfect for a chocolate heart or little card. First I made a Duck Tape sheet…

I love my adult colouring book collection but was recently introduced to something a little different. The Wild Garden from Usborne Publishing is a rub-down transfer book which is the perfect gift for Mother’s Day and a creative and therapeutic experience for children and adults alike. The Wild Garden rub-down transfer book, is brimming with eleven exquisite gardens. Each ‘garden’ has a delicate line drawing to colour in and a colourful picture to fill with beautiful rub-down transfers of flowers, butterflies, birds, frogs and fish, which are stored in a handy envelope at the front of the book. There is something…

I love making handmade gifts so today I’m sharing a sweet little Liberty fabric envelope I made. I thought this would be a fun sewing project and would be just the right size for a card and some sweets. I really enjoyed choosing the right fabric. Surely this is the best part of the creative process? I admit I got completely sidetracked as my fabric stash is all over the place since we decorated our spare room. I was looking for some Liberty pieces I knew I had and found so many other prints and patterns which reminded me of…
