5 hacks for keeping your nursery organised

Posted on March 10, 2025 by jenny

Bringing a new baby into the world is an exciting and joyful experience, but it can also bring chaos and clutter to your home. From diapers to toys to clothes, the nursery can quickly become a disorganised mess. However, with a few simple hacks, you can keep your nursery tidy and functional even when life gets messy.

Utilize storage bins and baskets to keep things tidy

One of the easiest ways to keep your nursery organised is by using storage bins and baskets. Whether you have a changing table or not, these handy containers can hold everything from diapers and wipes to toys and clothes. Place them on shelves, under the crib, or in the closet to keep clutter at bay. Label each bin or basket to make it easy to find what you need quickly.

Maximise closet space to avoid clutter

Closets are often underutilised in nurseries, but they can be a great source of storage space. Install shelves or hanging organisers to make the most of the vertical space. Use bins or baskets to store items like blankets, shoes, and toys. You can even hang a shoe organiser on the back of the closet door to hold smaller items like socks and bibs. With a little creativity, you can turn your nursery closet into a functional and organised space.

Invest in a baby changing table with built-in storage to have all the necessities in one place

A baby changing table is a must-have item for any nursery, but not all changing tables are created equal. Look for a changing table with built-in storage to maximise its usefulness. Some changing tables come with drawers, shelves, or cubbies that can hold diapers, wipes, and other essentials. This will help keep your changing table area neat and tidy, making diaper changes a breeze.

Create a daily cleaning routine to avoid getting overwhelmed

Life with a baby can be hectic, but taking a few minutes each day to tidy up the nursery can make a big difference. Set aside time in the morning or evening to straighten up the room, put away toys, and restock supplies. This will prevent clutter from piling up and make it easier to find what you need when you need it. Enlist the help of your partner or older children to make cleaning a family affair.

Use multi-functional furniture to your advantage

When space is at a premium in the nursery, multi-functional furniture can be a lifesaver. Look for items like cribs with built-in storage, ottomans that double as storage bins, baby’s changing tables with extra drawers, or bookshelves that also serve as changing tables. These versatile pieces will help you make the most of your nursery space while keeping things organised. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your furniture choices to create a functional and stylish nursery.
