    Yarn wrapped flower craft

After a pretty cold week I’m pretty sure the weather is supposed to be getting warmer and drier. Such a late Spring has really affected our garden and it is pretty devoid of colour. Thankfully our roses have sprung into life, they are one of my favourite plants, and I love watching them cover our back wall. They’ve inspired our latest craft activity – using colourful wool and lots of glue to make pretty yarn wrapped flowers. We didn’t do much crafting whilst we were away. We had fun with sticker books and decorated some painted rocks but nothing like…

Win a copy of Dot Art: Sticker Safari by Yoni Alter

We’ve had some amazing meals out whilst we’ve been away. We have a strict no phones or iPads rule whenever we eat out. I really dislike seeing families eating out where no one talks to each other! This may not work for everyone but it works for us. I always make sure to pack some cards or a small game. We had a really lovely meal at The Golden Fleece in Wells next the Sea (the New York Deli pizza is sooo good!) and I packed a copy of Dot Art: Sticker Safari by Yoni Alter to keep us all…

    Sylvanian Families Easter egg hunt

We’ve had a crazy Easter so far. This year we celebrated at home with the whole family. We had gifts, a visit from the Elf (he’s not just for Christmas you know!), and a few Easter egg hunts – thank you Co-op for sending us so many supplies! There was plenty of down time with my 6 and 8 year olds too. Easter is fun but they also need quiet time playing with their toys. We had a lot of fun with our Spring time Sylvanian Families sensory tray so we thought we would have more seasonal fun with our…

    Easy Minecraft Easter eggs

Last weekend we threw my 8 year old a Minecraft themed birthday party. I had so much fun planning the food, drinks, games and party bags. I had some Minecraft tattoos left over and decided to make some simple Minecraft Easter eggs to use as decorations. My 8 year old was quick to tell me that there are no eggs in Minecraft so these are spawn eggs – perfect for those who play the Creative mode in Minecraft and want to spawn good or bad creatures. Equipment needed: Plastic eggs Pinty Plus Basic Mint Green (6029) Minecraft tattoos How to make Minecraft…

DIY Num Noms Easter Egg Hunt

We’re so happy that the Easter holidays have started. I have 2 weeks with my children and lots of fun ideas to keep them occupied. Today we had a DIY Num Noms Easter Egg Hunt at home. The weather has been terrible but this kept them busy. DIY Num Noms Easter Egg Hunt We had been sent a Num Noms Lunch Box as well as a Num Noms Easter Egg Hunt sheet and game instructions. I hid the Num and Noms inside plastic eggs and then placed them all over the house. Each child had a Num Noms Easter Egg Hunt sheet…

    Aquabeads Easter egg bookmarks

A few weeks ago we were challenged to make something for the house with Aquabeads. My children are *obsessed* with Aquabeads and we have a lot of their creations around the house. Sometimes it’s nice to actually use their creations around the house. With Easter coming up my daughter has been making a lot of Aquabeads Easter eggs. She didn’t follow a pattern, just made patterns with the beads. I’ve told you before how much fun we have with Aquabeads. They are so simple to use, simply make patterns with the beads and the fix with a spray of water.…

    Washi tape Easter eggs

This year I’ve tried to not buy any new Easter decorations. I’m really trying to cut down our use of single-use plastics and using up what we have before we buy anything. In our Easter box we had a *lot* of plastic re-fillable eggs. They are perfect for an Easter egg hunt at home. Recently I was sent a bundle of Duck Tape washi tape. It’s been a while since I crafted with washi tape. Have you heard of it? It’s a Japanese tape which is easy to tear and easy to re-position and great for crafting with. I thought…

Paper plate Easter basket and sponge print eggs

Yesterday I finally finished shopping for Easter eggs! Easter seems to get bigger and bigger every year but I’ve been working hard to make sure the family have some delicious Easter gifts to open and enjoy this weekend. We’ll be taking down all our birthday cards this week and we’ve been busy making some of our own Easter decorations to hang up. Yesterday the weather was beautiful and sunny (not so today unfortunately) and we had some messy, paint-y, after school fun with our paper plate Easter basket and sponge print egg activity. Read on for the full tutorial. Items…
