James and the Giant Peach story stones

We love making story stones and decorating rocks. We have built up quite a stash so have been taking a few out with us every day and hiding them around the neighbourhood. It’s been so lovely to see friends finding them and posting them on our local painted rocks Facebook page. It definitely encourages us to make more. We recently told you about the theme for the 2018 Roald Dahl Day celebrations – James and the Giant Peach. A few years ago my son and I worked our way through all of Roald Dahl’s stories. When I mentioned James and…

A gardening and nature crafts box for kids

I’ve been a little busy since the school holidays started which meant a few subscription boxes have turned up over the last few weeks and remained unopened. This is a fun gardening and nature crafts box for kids. The August mud + bloom gardening and nature crafts box for kids I really love the idea of this box. My 6 year old just loves to…

    Wool wrapped seed pots craft

Can I say that we’re getting a tiny bit fed up of the British heatwave? It’s only the first week of the Summer holidays and I didn’t really expect to be spending so much time indoors. We’ve gone to the park first thing in the day before it gets too hot but otherwise we’re staying indoors and crafting and playing. Thankfully we were sent some craft supplies from Bostik which has kept us busy. July is a great month for flowers in the garden, luckily we haven’t had a hosepipe ban enforced yet. The children love to plant seeds so…

Easy dinosaur fossil craft for kids

I’ve mentioned before that my 6 year old is just crazy about dinosaurs. We haven’t really done many dinosaur crafts before which is why our easy dinosaur fossil craft for kids is so overdue. This is a really fun dinosaur craft for kids which I’ve done with my 6 and 8 year old. It’s really quick and easy, so perfect as an after school activity. How to make your own Squishy Popcorn

Last month we reviewed the fabulous How to make your own Squishies & Slime magbook. It’s a brilliant book for crafty kids with over 50 DIY projects to squish, squash, smoosh and stretch. Both my kids love squishies, especially the smaller ones they got from Squishy Box. Our family love to craft so it was inevitable that we would make some of the squishies from the magbook. How to make your own Squishy Popcorn The children chose several they wanted to make and the first one was popcorn. It wasn’t hard to find the right supplies. We bought large sponges from…
