I’ve mentioned a few times that I’ve been following Slimming World for a while now. I had a massive blip over the Christmas period but I’m pleased to say that I’m now back on track 🙂 I find Slimming World pretty easy to follow but the one thing I miss is baking. I love baking and although I can syn all my sweet treats, I just find that this is something that doesn’t sit so well when you’re following a weight management programme! One of the recent magazines included a recipe for gingerbread stars which I never got round to…

Before Christmas I received the Winter Craftpod box. This is my favourite subscription box at the moment. It comes quarterly which means I actually have time to make what’s inside and enjoy it! What was inside the Winter Craftpod box? There were two Winter crafts – a sweet stitching project to embroider Winterberries in a small hoop, and a stamp making kit. There was also a postcard by Jamilla Beukema, a sheet of stickers by Nastia Sleptsova, a Black Chai teabag and Vivani chocolate. I love receiving my Craftpod box, it really is something I look forward to opening. The first thing…

I’m not sure how many years ago I first Pinned a very cute little gingerbread house that sat on the edge of a cup. I fell in love with the idea but it remained an idea, it looked far too complicated to make at home! Fast forward a few years and just before Christmas I spotted a Make Your Own Gingerbread Cottage kit in Lakeland. I hardly every go to Lakeland. I find their products pretty expensive but I couldn’t resist this – finally a chance to make my own little gingerbread houses! Mini gingerbread house mug hangers This was…

This year is all about me making things. Finishing projects. This doesn’t come naturally to me. So far this year I’ve stitched the felt bus pincushion and now I can add the sashiko panel to my list. I picked up all the supplies at the Spring Knitting & Stitching Show last year. I bought the panel, special needles and thread. Then it sat in my cupboard for 10 months. I couldn’t read the Japanese instructions so I just searched online for instructions. Sashiko is a Japanese running stitch. The pre-printed panel featured a rabbit inside a circle which seemed pretty…

This year is all about making some of the things in my craft stash. I love working with felt and a few years ago asked for a cute London bus pin cushion kit by crafty nana for Christmas. I’m not sure why I never made it. Everything was pre-cut so it was pretty simple to stitch together. For some reason I thought it should be the first WIP I finished in 2018. London bus pin cushion kit by crafty nana This was a lovely craft kit containing pre-cut felt pieces, a needle, thread and stuffing. It was actually a really lovely…

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Mollie Makes Floral Hoop Kit Mollie Makes Floral ‘Let Love Bloom’ Hoop Kit from Issue 87 was designed by Amanda Bryde of Brynn & Co. It contained a plastic embroidery hoop, printed cotton fabric, embroidery threads and a sewing needle. I love a…

I have wanted to make Gingerbread Rocky Road for a long time. With things slowing down for Christmas I finally got round to it. I love Rocky Road anyway, it’s a kind of cake, containing a mixture of marshmallows, chocolate, and nuts. I’ve adapted my recipe from Nigella’s Christmas Rocky Road recipe. Ingredients to make Gingerbread Rocky Road 250 grams dark chocolate 150 grams milk chocolate 175 grams soft butter 4 tablespoons golden syrup 200 grams broken gingerbread house (I used part of a gingerbread house kit from Flying Tiger) 150 grams brazil nuts 150 grams red glace cherries 125…
