I love to experiment with dye. A few years ago I recycled a vintage blanket and used Dylon dye to make pretty bunting flags. I also updated a corduroy skirt with shop-bought black dye and my washing machine. It’s such an easy way to update an outfit. With Easter coming up I wanted to try making our own dyes, and use them for dyeing eggs for Easter. I only wanted to use natural materials so gathered red cabbage, onion, blueberries and turmeric. Natural dye equipment: Natural ingredients (red cabbage, onion, blueberries, turmeric) Saucepan Water Measuring spoon Sieve Kilner glass jars…

I love my Cricut machine and have been using a lot for projects around our home. One thing I really wanted to do was update the storage jar labels on all my glass storage jars. We did our kitchen a few years ago and put our dry goods into glass jars. I’ve used sticky labels and even a label printer to make labels for each jar but recently I wanted to make labels in the same size and font for all of the glass jars. This is the type of project that the Cricut was made for and I really…

I really like this time of year as there is so much to look forward to celebrating. We will be celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday 14th March this year. I love receiving the cards my children make at school (although I’m not sure that will be happening this year). We usually go out for lunch but hopefully my family will cook for me and let me put my feet up for the day! I couldn’t resist making something with my Cricut Maker for Mothers Day. My Cricut DIY Mother’s Day gift idea is simple and low cost but makes a…

One of my Christmas presents was the Winter Craftpod subscription box. This is my favourite subscription box, containing three lovely craft projects. I love a crafty project (or two!) to get my through the Christmas holidays so this was definitely the perfect present for me. The Winter Craftpod box was inspired by the graceful beauty of swans. Winter Swans and pine cone gingerbread The box contained two hand sewing projects and a recipe card. There was a trio of felt swans to stitch, an embroidery hoop featuring a swan and a recipe for Pine Cone gingerbread biscuits. Can you guess…

It’s been a while since I shared a sewing project but this year I’ve already finished far more projects than normal. I’ve fallen back in love with English Paper Piecing which is something I’ve always loved. I find the whole process really therapeutic – from choosing fabrics to making up my fabric hexagons and stitching them together – it’s the perfect mindful craft. I wanted to craft something seasonal for Valentines Day and decided to make an English Paper Pieced piece of hoop art. I’ve recently started displaying all my finished embroidery hoops and wanted to add some EPP shapes to…

Looking for a fun way to create place settings? Then I have a fun Cricut craft to share with you today. I love my Cricut Maker and find it’s so useful to make things for our home. I’ve lost count of the little items I’ve made for around the home but our wooden place settings are one thing we’ve got a lot of use from. I actually made them over a year ago and am only just getting round to sharing a tutorial for them. The wooden place settings can be used all year round but we use them a…

I’ve nearly worked my way through the gingerbread house kits I bought for my Gingerbread Gift Guide. I loved putting it together but was also looking forward to trying out all the different kits I bought. The Waitrose gingerbread kits I bought have been a success. I loved making the Waitrose Gingerbread Box Kit and the gingerbread from the Waitrose Gingerbread & Shortbread Decorating Kit are adorning our Christmas tree. Finally it was time to try the Gingerbread House Kit from Waitrose. It cost just £4.40 from Waitrose. Christmas gingerbread house kit We love baking a gingerbread house at Christmas. Over the years…

Today I’m sharing the festive cheer with our personalised baubles filled with the finest sweets. Christmas may be different this year but we’re keeping the spirit alive with a fun post sponsored by Haribo. To protect our loved ones we’ll be staying home this Christmas. I don’t remember the last time we spent Christmas on our own as a family of four. Although we are looking forward to it we will be missing our friends and family who we normally see. Although we may not be able to get together we can still share the spirit of giving with the…

I like to put together a Christmas Eve Box for my children. Each year I find some new pyjamas for them as well as some treats, like a special hot chocolate, a new film to watch and perhaps some activities or games to keep them busy. They love to sprinkle reindeer food too and this year I thought I would make our own magic reindeer food tubes and label them using my Cricut Maker. Magic reindeer food tubes supplies: Plastic test tubes with plastic stoppers Bird seed Cricut Maker black and red vinyl transfer tape How to make magic reindeer…
