As soon as the kids went back to school I couldn’t help thinking how to bring some Autumn vibes into our house. I found some sweet Autumnal candles in Primark which I bought and squirreled away for a few weeks. Now we’re in October I feel like I can bring out my pumpkin candles, and we have conkers and acorns which the kids have picked up on our walks. Making Autumn decor with the Autumn Craftpod I love my makes to be seasonal. We’ve made delicious gingerbread biscuits and I was delighted when my Autumn Craftpod box landed on the…

For the last few weeks I’ve been stitching the Eva Verbruggen tapestry project from my latest Hoop Club subscription box. I find embroidery kits really hit and miss. Sometimes I love them and stitch then straight away, other times I just squirrel them away in my craft cupboard. However, I love to try different types of crafts so was excited to try the tapestry hoop project. Floral tapestry embroidery hoop The tapestry kit included the pre-printed fabric panel, selection of tapestry threads, wooden hoop and needle. The wool colours were really pretty and it was fun to sew with wool…

We are so excited to celebrate Halloween next month. The shops are full of Halloween decor and we have been busy planning a Halloween costume for our pup to wear when we go Trick or Treating. I am excited to start watching Halloween films with the kids, especially Hocus Pocus 2 which comes out soon. We recently re-watched Hocus Pocus which inspired our Hocus Pocus Mason Jar Craft which features the quotation “Oh look, another glorious morning, makes me sick”. Time: 45 Minutes Materials: 1 sheet white vinyl oracal 1 sheet transfer tape Cricut machine Blue Cricut mat Cricut weeding…

I’m not the biggest fan of the art of cross stitch. Cross stitch is a form of counted thread embroidery which involves an x stitch on fabric with an even and open weave like Aida. Some people think it’s the simplest form of embroidery, but I actually find it quite hard to find the right place for my needle! Thankfully it is easy to see where you’ve gone wrong and unpick a stitch or two. Anyway, when I saw that Cotton Clara had produced a gingerbread house cross stitch kit I bought myself one. I love anything related to gingerbread…

Last week we were away in the Netherlands which must be one of the child-friendly countries we’ve ever visited. In fact, we love the Netherlands so much it was our third visit with kids! I made sure to pack a few small sewing projects in case there was any free time – there wasn’t very much! Before we left I finished the felt waterlily pincushion from the Summer Craftpod box. This is one of my favourite subscription boxes, it’s sent every season and is always great fun to stitch. Each box contains two craft projects and this one contained a…

A few weeks I got to try a new to me craft – eco resin! I won a Eco Resin craft book and eco resin coaster craft kit from MAKEetc on Instagram and I couldn’t wait to try it out at home. It feels like a while since I was able to try something new. Easy eco-resin coasters The eco resin coaster craft kit from Badger and Birch contained almost everything I needed to make two large coasters in a white coaster base colour with ‘speckle’ terrazzo coloured chips. There was a bottle of epoxy resin, a bag of hardener,…

I love stitching with Liberty London fabrics. I have a little stash which I love to use when I’m sewing. I’ve been thinking about making some re-useable face wipes for a while. We’re all trying to be more sustainable at the moment, and this is a great way to use up fabric and help the environment too. Re-useable face wipes supplies: 15cm x 15cm Liberty fabric 15cm x 15 cm bamboo towelling Scissors and pins Matching thread Sewing machine How to make your own re-useable face wipes Cut out a circle approximately 8cm from a piece of cardboard (a cereal…

So I finished The Summer Sampler mini quilt. It’s always a little anti-climactic when I finish a good book or piece of sewing. I find myself investing in the characters, or the fabric. However I am really chuffed to finish this mini quilt! The Summer Sampler mini quilt {update 4} ‘The Summer Sampler’ Block of the Month Club was purchased in 2019 from Pretty Fabrics and Trims. I love their kits and have quite a few (bought but not made!). Spread over 4 months, each month I received a little packet containing Monthly instructions, super pretty fabrics and embroidery threads…

Sometimes it can be difficult to come up with a name for a blog post. So todays’ post is called ‘London inspired embroidery hoop’ – a little snappier than my commute inspired hoop! I’ve been commuting to work via the Underground for some months now, every day is the same (except for the odd tube strike day). London inspired embroidery hoop Most days I sit and wait for the train, sitting on a bench by the station sign. One day I decided to take a photo of the bench and see if I could transfer my photo into an embroidery.…
