Now the kids are back to school we have resurrected our regular Friday night family game night. We are a family that loves to play games, board games or online games, it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s something we can do together. Our latest #gifted game from the Blogger Board Game Club was Ticket to Ride. We reviewed Ticket to Ride Europe last year and it quickly became one of our favourite family board games. We soon added Ticket to Ride United Kingdom to our collection. It’s one of those games which is quite quick and easy to…

Our family love to play board games. I’m a firm believer that board games are not only fun but educational too and a great way to spend time together. Our latest #gifted game from the Blogger Board Game Club was Slide: Quest. Blogger Board Game Club: Slide Quest The idea behind Slide: Quest is that the bad guys have taken over the beautiful kingdom in Slide Quest, and it’s in total chaos! You have to save the world and quickly! Work together to guide this brave, rolling knight through this turbulent adventure that is lined with twists and traps! We…

Our latest #gifted game from the Blogger Board Game Club was Timeline: Science Museum. This is a portable card game which I thought would be great for my science-mad children. We are always on the lookout for new games and I liked the sound of this because it was small, educational and could be played in 15 minutes. Blogger Board Game Club: Timeline: Science Museum Was the first Electric Iron invented before or after the lightbulb? But what if it was actually dated somewhere between the development of canned food and the flying scotsman’s first journey? And was Uranus discovered…

Our latest game from the Blogger Board Game Club was House of Danger, based on the book by R.A. Montgomery. When I first saw the game it immediately made me think of the story books I read as a child, the ones with multiple possible endings where you choose your own adventure. I loved that kind of book and saw that the game was billed as a cooperative adventure game by Prospero Hall. Blogger Board Game Club: House of Danger Although the game is recommended for ages 10 and over our children really wanted to play it with us. They…

Our latest game from the Blogger Board Game Club was the brilliant Exploding Kittens. Have you heard of it before? It was funded on Kickstarter a few years ago and is hugely popular. My husband had heard of it but I hadn’t so I was really looking forward to trying it. It’s a simple card game – or is it? Blogger Board Game Club Review: Exploding Kittens The premise is simple – you are dealt a number of cards. You take it in turns to place and draw cards until you pick an Exploding Kitten card. Then you explode, and…

Is anyone else glad that January is over? It felt like a long month, one that we got through by playing copious games and finishing off the Christmas chocolates. We’ve been members of the Blogger Board Game Club for a while and were delighted to be sent a bundle of family board games. We love to play family games, especially at the weekend, and we can’t wait to tell you more over the coming weeks. The first game we are going to tell you about is Hey! That’s My Fish. Hey! That’s My Fish Hey, That’s My Fish! is an…

We are counting down the days until the Christmas holidays begin. Both children had their Christmas plays today and are looking really tired. We have been making lots of time to relax and wind down after school, and have been enjoying games of SET. Blogger Board Game Club review: SET card game Have you heard of SET before? Set has won over 35 best game awards including Mensa select. It’s a perfect travel game and a party favourite! The object of the game is to identify sets of three cards. Each card is unique in its four features: shape, colour, number…

We’ve been working with Asmodee and are members of their Blogger Board Game Club, reviewing some classic and new family games. My children love to play all kinds of games and we’ve had lots of fun with Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne and Dixit amongst others. We were recently sent Cobra Paw to review and tell you about. Blogger Board Game Club review: Cobra Paw My children are big fans of Lego Ninjago so loved the look of Cobra Paw. The 6-sided box features a ninja cat which made us all laugh. They couldn’t wait to see what was inside the…

A few weeks ago we were kindly sent a copy of Carcassonne to play and review. The game was first launched in 2001. The idea is simple: Carcassonne is a clever tile-laying game based on the southern French city of Carcassonne, famous for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications. Players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields while creating a perfect city landscape. Blogger Board Game Club review: Carcassonne As members of the Blogger Board Game Club we were sent this copy of Carcassonne to review.…
