Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write. Monday Happy Things {Week 409} We’ve had another heat wave which has been a bit much for us all. It’s so difficult to do anything, even the dog is fed up with all the sun! Thankfully it looks like the weather will cool…

My son just loves art and has been taking art lessons for a few years now. We love to take him out to art galleries and museums wherever we can and there’s always something to see and do in London. A few years ago we went to Yayoi Kasuma’s Infinity Mirrored Room which was an amazing experience. So when I heard about Obliteration Room at Tate Modern I knew we had to go. Exploring the Obliteration Room with kids Tate Modern is currently showing two of Yayoi Kasuma’s Infinity Mirror Rooms. These immersive installations will transport you into Kusama’s unique vision…

I’ve been reading a lot of fiction recently, working my way though the trilogy of books about Miss Buncle by DE Stevenson. Set in the 1930s and 1940s they were light hearted and fun, just what I needed. But I was delighted to get my hands on Femina: A New History of the Middle Ages, Through the Women Written Out of It by Janina Ramirez. The author is an art historian and TV presenter and hugely entertaining and interesting to watch. I knew I would love to read her latest non-fiction book, Femina. Femina: A New History of the Middle…

A few weeks I got to try a new to me craft – eco resin! I won a Eco Resin craft book and eco resin coaster craft kit from MAKEetc on Instagram and I couldn’t wait to try it out at home. It feels like a while since I was able to try something new. Easy eco-resin coasters The eco resin coaster craft kit from Badger and Birch contained almost everything I needed to make two large coasters in a white coaster base colour with ‘speckle’ terrazzo coloured chips. There was a bottle of epoxy resin, a bag of hardener,…

Can you believe we’re already on the third week of the school holidays? They are going very quickly this year, probably because we’re juggling working full time with child-care. It’s a bit crazy but we seem to be managing with a mix of ‘chill’ days for the kids and a variety of activity clubs to keep them busy. Our Back to School essentials Because I’m now working full-time I need to be a lot more organised. Even before the children had broken up for the summer holidays, I noticed that the shops were full of uniform for the new term!…

We love living in London and go as often as we can. There is always so much to see and do and a day out in London doesn’t need to cost a lot of money. A few weeks ago I took my daughter in London for a day out. We visited Sky Garden (for free), walked around the wild flower moat of the Tower of London (not free) and tried to visit as much of the chimpanzee sculpture trail as we could (free!). Exploring the Thames foreshore with kids We bought some sandwiches for lunch and couldn’t decide where to…

Yesterday we were invited to watch Horrible Histories: Terrible Tudors. We are huge fans of Horrible Histories, my son has alllll the books, so we couldn’t wait to watch a live performance. He’s been studying the Tudors in his history lessons so I thought it would be fun and educational too for the school holidays! Horrible Histories: Terrible Tudors Birmingham Stage Company’s Horrible Histories – Terrible Tudors make its West End premiere at the Garrick Theatre this summer as part of the company’s 30th anniversary programme.
