    Where should Little Sis sleep?

Little Sis is now 5 months old. She sleeps quite happily in her bednest next to me and I adore having her there. We’re thinking about what to do next as ideally we would move her to her own room around 6 months. However, we are so short of space we still haven’t decided on what bed to buy or where to put it. doubt they’ll be so keen to share when they’re teenagers! Her brother had a nursery from practically the moment he was conceived but our third bedroom is my husband’s office and, as he works from home,…

BT digital video baby monitor 1000 review

My new favorite toy is the BT video baby monitor we were recently sent. Forget Mad Men and Alcatraz, the new show everyone is talking about is the Big Brother Show. In his cot bed at 7pm every night I thought he was putting his head down and sleeping. Thanks to the lovely new video monitor I find he is actually standing up, sitting down, lying down, standing up, sitting down, lying down until he eventually drops off! It’s definitely an eye opener. The Digital Video Baby Monitor 1000 is the latest in the range and gives you a video…

    Books for little learners

Big Brother and Little Sis were sent some lovely new books from the little learners range. They are the perfect age for these colourful picture books and we’ve all been enjoying taking some time to look through them together. I often forget the simple pleasures that come from looking through a picture book. Miraculously the three books we were sent kept both the 5 and 25 month old entertained. This was of great benefit as the toddler always wants my attention so it was really lovely to do an activity which we could all enjoy. The three books we were…

    Milton Mini Portable Soother Steriliser

The very word Milton is synonymous with sterilising. It also makes me think of my mum who loves to remind me that when I was a baby she had to sterilise my bottles using Milton and cold water for hours on end. Thank goodness things have moved on. Not only do modern mums benefit from steam and microwave sterilisers but we now have the mini portable soother steriliser too! Sterilising experts Milton have launched the stylish new steriliser in eye catching colours- green, blue and purple. Created with mum in mind, the small, lightweight sterilising method has been specially designed…

    Olympic cupcakes

As we passed the 100 day milestone to the Olympic Games last week my thoughts turned crafty! What could we make? We applied for tickets for three events and we know we’ve got some tickets, we’re just not sure for what events or if we’re able to take Little Sis as we applied when I was pregnant. We have less than 100 days to find out. Olympic cupcakes We haven’t been baking in a while so thought we would make the basic fairy cake recipe from Mary Berry’s Baking Bible, a recent birthday present which I am enjoying working my…

    Adventures with gNappies

As it’s Real Nappy Week it seems a good time to tell you about the gPants we have recently been using. We love using reuseable nappies and were really excited to meet the founders of gNappies recently. Whilst reuseable nappies have obvious benefits to the environment gNappies go one step further. They give you two options which go easy on the planet – a disposable but 100% biodegradable gRefill or washable gCloth. Little Sis has been trying out the little gPants with the gRefills. As you can see they look adorable on her little bottom, just like proper pants, and…

Thomas & Friends: Rescue on the Rails new DVD

You may know that the toddler lives and breathes Thomas the Tank Engine all day long. You may have a son just like him. He goes to sleep in his Thomas pyjamas, wakes up and puts his Thomas slippers on, gets dressed in his Thomas clothes and plays trains all day long. At meal times he uses his Thomas plate, cup and cutlery. So when we were asked to review the new Thomas & Friends DVD I couldn’t really say no. I’m beginning to wish I had said no as we’ve watched it continuously since it arrived! Thomas & Friends:…

Thomas the Tank Engine birthday cake

There’s a great article in the latest issue of Gurgle magazine on how to throw the perfect party. I was pleased to see that Big Brother is ahead of himself, having a Thomas the Tank Engine themed party at the grand old age of 2! We knew that we wanted to make a special cake for his birthday and that it would probably be train-shaped. My husband’s mother set the bar really high, making my husband a concorde birthday cake when he was little. I have to admit that we had a bit of help with the cake from the…

    First tastes

It’s now been a couple of weeks since we’ve been giving Little Sis a taste of what she’s missing out on! Over the weeks she’s really begun to open her mouth in anticipation and she’s finally grasped what to do with the puree when it’s in her mouth. It’s amazing to watch and she seems so grown up. I remember making some of my own purees last time (which her brother didn’t particularly like!) so I’m currently using purees from Plum. I used these with her brother too and they are great. The portions are very generous so I’ve been…
