    Five Happy Things {Week 225}

    Monday morning again. Hope you had a great weekend. I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Five happy things {Week 225} Both the children have been busy at school. My daughter took part in an assembly (which I couldn’t attend due to work) and brought home the Achievement she was awarded for making brilliant New Year Resolutions. My son…

    Win a How To Train Your Dragon goody bag

    Yesterday we were invited to a really special immersive screening of the last film in the How To Train Your Dragon franchise, The Hidden World from Universal UK. My children have grown up with the How To Train Your Dragon books and films (see our review of the Playmobil How To Train Your Dragon range here) so we couldn’t wait to see a preview of the film and find out what would happen to our favourite characters, Hiccup and Toothless. An immersive screening experience and the Isle of Berk I don’t think we’ve ever been to an immersive screening before…

    15 Tasty Butterbeer Recipes

    We are huge fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in our house. I devoured the Harry Potter books when I was younger, loved the films and now enjoy the Fantastic Beasts franchise too. I have tried reading the books with the children but they don’t seen quite ready for them. Instead we have been re-watching the films as we have booked tickets for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour to see behind the scenes of the Harry Potter films next month! We’ve featured a few Harry Potter themed posts on our blog, although my favourite was our visit to…

    DIY Valentine’s Day gift bag with paper weave detail

    Have you started thinking about Valentine’s Day yet? I love to give my children a card and a little sweet treat, just like my parents used to give me and my sister. This year I wanted to make a paper treat bag to hold my treats. They are embellished with a paper weave detail which adds a pop of colour. I used a rainbow of colours but I think they would look lovely in monochrome or pastels too.     Five Happy Things {Week 224}

    Monday morning again. Hope you had a great weekend. I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Five happy things {Week 224} As you know I went back to work in July. I enjoy my job but it is so hard fitting everything I need to do around the working day. So I decided to  reduce my hours at…

    Mistletoe embroidery and a felt winter fox

    I try to make time to craft but I have to be honest, working outside of the home leaves me with little energy for it at the moment. I’ve been enjoying the quarterly Craftpod subscription though and always seem to make time to craft the contents. I ordered the Winter Craftpod box as a little treat to myself. It arrived just before Christmas so I packed it to take away with us over Christmas. This was a colourful winter-themed box with two crafts – a soft sculpture of a woodland fox and a mistletoe embroidery hoop. There were extras too,…

    A New Year’s Resolution to use and display family photos

    Over the holidays we re-arranged our living room. The layout had stayed the same since we moved in 5 years ago, and I didn’t like it. The seats were at the wrong angle to the tv and all the shelves were cluttered with toys and paperwork. So we moved the sofas around, got rid of my beloved, but ill-used vintage bureau, making a cosy family living space. I found time to sort the clutter so we could display lego creations on the shelves. I even managed to carve out a new desk space for me too. It felt so nice…

    Crafting pretty paper stars

    There ‘s something about working with paper that I just love. Although I like to sew, I’m also really glad that I discovered paper craft too. This Christmas we added a huge paper star to our bay window so I was pretty excited to see a paper star kit along with my monthly Mollie Makes magazine. Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting…

    12 Must Make Dr. Seuss Crafts

    On March 2rd Dr. Seuss Day is celebrated. You may not have heard of this day before but it’s celebrated every year, on the anniversary of the birth of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known by his pen name – Dr Seuss! Across the world there is a full twenty-four hours to make a mess with the Cat in the Hat, dance around with the Fox in Sox, hear a Who with Horton, count the red and blue fish, help the Grinch see the error of his ways, and listen to Sam I Am’s friend complain about his dish of green…
