I’m lucky that my children seem to enjoy sewing as much as I do. I’ve been introducing some simple sewing crafts so they can get used to using a needle and thread confidently. Sewing is a great activity for encouraging fine motor skills and hand/eye co-ordination. With Irish ancestry we are keen for our children to learn more about St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Our stitched shamrock craft for kids is a fun way to start the St Patrick’s Day celebrations. We have been excitedly talking about World Book Day for a good few weeks now As a family of bookworms we just love to read and World Book Day means everyone can celebrate the joy of reading. Thanks to home learning the whole family are getting involved in World Book Day this year. We are looking forward to taking part in an online assembly with David Walliams as well as a virtual meet with Tom Fletcher and Rob Biddulph through the World Book Day website on Thursday. Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write. Monday Happy List {Week 333} We are all excited about the thought of both our children finally being back at school from next Monday. The news has definitely helped us get through the last few weeks. Of course we needed to try and find all the…

I really like this time of year as there is so much to look forward to celebrating. We will be celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday 14th March this year. I love receiving the cards my children make at school (although I’m not sure that will be happening this year). We usually go out for lunch but hopefully my family will cook for me and let me put my feet up for the day! I couldn’t resist making something with my Cricut Maker for Mothers Day. My Cricut DIY Mother’s Day gift idea is simple and low cost but makes a…

Last weekend we ventured out to Pinner Memorial Park, a lovely park right in the centre of Pinner. It’s a lovely large park with a pond, aviary, children’s playground and cafe. Exploring Pinner Memorial Park with kids Pinner Memorial Park is on land that was part of the West House estate, at one time the home of Lord Nelson’s daughter Horatia. In 1934 part of the grounds were acquired by Harrow UDC for public open space. Additional land was acquired in 1949 as well as West House, and the park opened as Pinner Memorial Park in 1950. World Book Day will be different this year. As a parent I’m glad that I don’t need to provide my children with costumes to wear to school as both of them dislike dressing up. We will be celebrating World Book Day (Thursday 4th March) at home. We have already chosen books with our World Book Day vouchers and are looking forward to some of the online events we’ve seen. World Book Day 2021 This year World Book Day falls on Thursday 4th March. We love World Book Day because it encourages everyone to celebrate books! Reading has been a big…

My children love to read and play games. It’s fair to say they’ve enjoyed more screen time than usual due to the closure of schools. However, I’m happy for them to enjoy their online gaming when I know how hard they work on their school work. They love to play Among Us, Minecraft and Fortnite and are always to see a novel or activity book which is tied into their online gaming world. Secrets of a Fortnite Fan We were recently sent a copy of Secrets of a Fortnite Fan from Welbeck Publishing Group to review. This is an independent…

One of my Christmas presents was the Winter Craftpod subscription box. This is my favourite subscription box, containing three lovely craft projects. I love a crafty project (or two!) to get my through the Christmas holidays so this was definitely the perfect present for me. The Winter Craftpod box was inspired by the graceful beauty of swans. Winter Swans and pine cone gingerbread The box contained two hand sewing projects and a recipe card. There was a trio of felt swans to stitch, an embroidery hoop featuring a swan and a recipe for Pine Cone gingerbread biscuits. Can you guess…

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write. Monday Happy List {Week 332} Half term was great but hard work. We love our house but missed making plans to see family and friends. We went on lots of dog walks in rain, wind and sunshine! Some of our usual activities continued online and the children…
