A trip to Iver Environment Centre

A trip to Iver Environment Centre

Posted on September 30, 2020December 25, 2025 by jenny

Iver Environment Centre is located in the Colne Valley between Uxbridge and Slough. It is one of four environmental education centres across the UK which are owned by the National Grid. Set up in 1990 the 4.5 acre site includes a poly tunnel rainforest, an orchard, woodland area with a fire pit, two allotments, mud kitchen, ponds and more. They run a series of educational events, family activities and volunteering opportunities.

A trip to Iver Environment Centre

I’m not sure where I first heard about Iver Environment Centre but I wish we’d found out about it sooner! During the Summer holidays they ran Wild Weeks and my children spent a very happy week there. Their week was packed full of activities such as pond dipping, bushcraft, film making, fire lighting, den building, construction and art.

The staff were amazing and they had so much fun, got to play with other children, and learn lots of new skills. The weather was good and they spent the whole week outdoors (and slept really well all week!). On the last day we were able to go and see what they had been up to each day and they gave us a tour of the site. Behind the car park and wooden building was a huge site, thin but long. The site was divided into lots of different areas for different activities, each with a unique feel and purpose.

Half term activities at Iver Environment Centre

There are some fun activities planned for half term including a Witches and Wizards Day. Activities include wand making, a Harry Potter themed wide game and pumpkin carving. There is also a Halloween Family Fun Day on Saturday the 31st of October. Tickets must be pre-booked and numbers are kept small to keep everyone safe. Find out more on their Facebook page.

Iver Environment Centre is at Slough Road, Iver, Buckinghamshire, SL0 0EB.

What a great place to go, perfect for children to learn more and have fun at the same time. I think I saw of mention Wild week back in the summer. Mich x

Oh now I love the sound of wand making, what a lot of fun activities to do! I never knew such a place existed.
