A crafty swap {Very Berry Hoop Swap}

Posted on April 4, 2017 by jenny
It’s been a very long time since I participated in a craft swap. My free time is very short at the moment and I’m hardly spending any time papercutting or sewing. However, the latest Very Berry Hoop Swap really appealed to me so I signed up.
The idea was quite simple. To purchase a miniature embroidery hoop (measuring just 4.5cm across) and fill it with some handmade textile art. I purchased a dandelyne miniature embroidery hoop from Cloud Craft and turned to Pinterest for some inspiration.
There was almost too long to think about this swap – 8 weeks from signing up to sending. So you can probably guess that I did my research then put the hoop to one side for a bit. My partner liked geometric designs so I based my design on a unicorn pin badge I own. First I drew my design onto a piece of plain fabric.

Then I stitched it using grey embroidery thread, adding detail with a blue thread.

I had measured my design to make sure it fitted inside the frame. I sandwiched it between the frame, the backing piece and centre plate, then folded over the excess fabric and used a wood glue to fix everything in place.
finished Very Berry Hoop Swap
I enjoyed making it and hope my partner did too, as I haven’t heard from her yet. You can see the lovely hoop I received at the top of this post. It’s a hoop full of French knots of every colour. It’s so pretty!

    I used to be so artistic, loved crafts and all that, I don’t know where it went, probably in motherhood like many others. Looks great too!
