I don’t usually talk about Christmas in October however I wanted to share a little update on my Pretty Fabrics and Trims 2024 Advent Box. I received the Christmas Countdown panel last year and made the smaller projects, but the bigger project overwhelmed me as November and December are such crazy busy months. So I put it to one side and made a list of Christmas projects to make this year. A few weeks ago I got the Christmas Countdown panel out again and made a start.
Christmas Countdown embroidery Part 1
The Pretty Fabrics and Trims 2024 Advent Box contained a pretty pre-printed panel (try saying that quickly out loud!). Along with the Christmas Countdown was a smaller project each week, there were a couple of felt decorations, an EPP patchwork ball and a felt gift tag. I’ve always loved working with felt so it was easy to make those smaller projects and ignore the bigger one.
The Christmas Countdown is a lovely project and I couldn’t wait to start. It’s broken down into four stages, one for each week of Advent. The first stage/week contained the panel, threads and instructions to embroider the first six days. I used a small embroidery hoop whilst I enjoyed the small motif, day and description.
Here are the first six embroideries: put up the tree, a letter to Santa, make salt dough hearts,
light a candle, wear a Christmas jumper and bake mince pies
They are the perfect size to do each day and I love that these are activities our family does each year.
I can already see it’s going to look lovely when it’s finished, which will keep me motivated to complete it. Stay tuned for Part 2 soon!

I so need to pick this back up….. I love embroidery for sure and what a great way to take some time for yourself and create something beautiful at the same time.
This looks SO good! I’m terrible and have no patience for things like this. But I can absolutely 100% appreciate what you’ve done. It looks brilliant so far! Can’t wait to see the finished thing.
