Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 447}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. This is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.

Five Happy Things {Week 447}

We finally made it to the Tea Shack at Woodoaks Farm. This place has been on our bucket list for so long and we finally made it. We had typical British Bank Holiday weather but we sat outside and tucked into hot drinks and slices of cake. Then we enjoyed a short walk with the pup. It made for a nice trip and is definitely somewhere we want to go to again soon.

My daughter and I enjoyed a baking session. For once we didn’t bake gingerbread, instead we opted for simple sugar biscuits in the shape of crowns. We decorated the Coronation biscuits with gold and silver icing and they made a fun after school snack.

With Coronation weekend fever hitting London we decorated our house with bunting and red, white and blue balloons. Our street held a street party and quiz. The questions were all Royal themed and amazingly we won the quiz! This meant we got to take home the trophy again and it has pride of place on our mantle.

We watched the Coronation at home but headed into London on Coronation Day after the crowds had gone home. We walked all around central London and managed to visit the giant crown installation at Hyde Park Corner, see the huge crowns on bus stops along Oxford Street, saw the flags along the Mall, saw the Coronation banners hanging from Admiralty Arch and the light projections on Big Ben,

Even the London Underground was decorated for the occasion. We spotted the special crowndels at Westminster underground station and heard the voice of the King saying “mind the gap”! We walked around central London for about 2 hours with the kids and the dog and there was a great atmosphere.
