Starting my week with The Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.
The Weekly Edit {Week 43/2026}
We made it to half term! The kids both went for an evening tour of the Houses of Parliament with their Explorer group which sounded fun. Now my youngest teen is away on a hillwalking weekend in the Brecon Beacons. I’m hoping the first named storm of the year didn’t affect their planned walking routes too much.
I finished reading The Silent Appeal, which was a follow up to The Appeal and The Christmas Appeal by Janice Hallett. It follows The Fairway Players as they rehearse Agatha Christie’s The Hollow. It’s a cosy crime novel which kept me guessing right to the end.
The youngest teen and I went to a Jellycat inspired clay workshop at Wick and Ceramic, our local pottery cafe. There were loads of autumnal and Christmas inspired Jellycats to inspire us. I made a little pumpkin and Christmas tree whilst my youngest made a snowman. We will be going back in a few weeks to paint them.
I made pumpkin soup with one of the pumpkins we bought at the pumpkin patch recently. I was surprised how easy it was to peel the pumpkin but it took ages to chop up. I was a little heavy handed with the ginger but the soup was ok, I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to cook with pumpkin,
My husband and I went to watch Street Fighter at the cinema. I never played the arcade game but I saw the trailer recently and thought it looked ok. It was actually quite a fun film. There is a lot of nostalgia for the games and toys we grew up with at the moment. We watched the Matchbox: The Movie film on Apple TV the other day and that was pretty entertaining too.
