Spooky Halloween gingerbread treats

We love baking gingerbread and half term has given the opportunity to slow down a little and do some of the things we enjoy. Such as baking. Gingerbread is the perfect autumnal treat and never fails to fill the house with its delicious, warming smells. A few weeks ago the shops were full of Halloween treats and I picked up a few to make with the kids. We made Ghoulish Gingerbread Skeletons from M&S but had another kit to make. These kits make baking with the kids super simple.

I think this Gingerbread Skeleton Biscuit Kit was from B&M (maybe). It contained the dry ingredients and a tube of white icing, so we supplied the butter and golden syrup. The template was printed on the inside of the packet, but we quickly decided to use one of our own cutters.

The mix was supposed to make 8 biscuits but we got a lot more out of it. As well as the spooky gingerbread ghosts we cut some stars from the remaining dough.

They filled the house with a delicious smell when they were baking, and we left them on a wrack to cool down.

My daughter had fun icing them, decorating them in all kinds of weird and wonderful ways.

They tasted great and made a fun after school snack.
