Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery from my Cotton Clara Hoop Club Box 21. The subscription box contained two hoops projects, an embroidery sampler featuring hearts, and the Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery. I really liked the Platinum Jubilee hoop. I was pretty restrained with the amount of money I spent on Jubilee memorabilia and ended up with a lovely souvenir tin from M&S and a limited edition tin of Tate & Lyle’s Golden Syrup which I couldn’t resist. After the contents are consumed I can re-use both to store sewing notions and pens, so nothing will be wasted. We had a lot of fun with our Platinum Jubilee crafts, our pup even won the local dog dressing up competition with his homemade London bus outfit!

The subscription kit contained the pre-printed fabric panel, wooden hoop and embroidery threads.
The stitches were quite simple – just back stitch and split back stitch. I didn’t make much progress in the run up to the Jubilee weekend as we were away.
But I was able to finish it this week. I followed the colour guide although I was tempted to swap the pink of the crown to purple, being the traditional colour of the monarchy. Did you know Elizabeth I forbade anyone except close family from wearing purple!
I finished the souvenir Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery last night and will enjoy it for a week or two before putting it away. The subscription box also contained a sweet heart sampler but I’m going to keep it until February as it looks like a fun seasonal project.
