I’ve been stocking up on craft kits to make over the winter months. I haven’t had a lot of time for stitching but I couldn’t resist buying the Barmy Fox and Copper Blush collaboration embroidered tree overlaid with a metal tree shape. It sounded odd, but it totally worked.
Floral Christmas tree embroidery
You can buy each of the five designs on their own or a mega kit of all five designs. I opted for the floral Christmas tree embroidery, although I could easily have stitched any of the designs. The kit came with 2 pieces of fabric (one to practise), a 3 inch embroidery hoop, full skeins of thread, a needle, a heat erasable pen to transfer the pattern, ribbon to hang the finished hoop and the wire shape from to attach on top. There was also a link to the pattern with instructions which you could print at home.
There was five festive designs – the floral tree, house in the forest, knitted stocking, O Holy Night Star and a snow globe. I really love anything floral so picked the floral tree. I loved the way everything was neatly packed inside the box.
First I transferred the design using my light box (a gift last Christmas that gets used a lot!).
Then I followed the stitch guide and started stitching. It was a small hoop so only took a few evenings to embroider. Then I added the metal tree shape to finish.
I trimmed the back of the fabric and added the ribbon so I could hang it.
This is the only decoration we have bought this year, it feels good to have something handmade which will last and be used again.

That is so beautiful! You are so clever. It really is a stunning Christmas decoration and even better knowing you made it yourself!
This is adorable. What a lovely thing to make. My daughter loves making things so this would be right up her street. So nice to keep it for years to come.
