Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Monday Happy List {Week 321}
December usually goes really quickly for me and this year is no exception. Although our elves have been in isolation for 2 weeks they were finally free on Tuesday. They brought our Advent crate which contained the children’s advent calendars (Lego Star Wars and Maltesers for Big Brother, Pokemon and Haribo for Little Sis) and Advent books. I got an amazing Bonne Maman advent calendar which contains a delicious pot of jam every day, and my husband opted for a Hotel Chocolat one. My children absolutely love their advent calendars each year and this year we’ve given them lots of space to open and display their calendars.
Not sure why I ever bought two Elves on the Shelf but they’ve been getting up to all sorts of adventures and I haven’t forgotten to move them once – yet. The children are also receiving daily letters from The North Pole via the International Elf Service which they love reading to each other.
Over the weekend we put up our Christmas tree. We decided to put our fake tree up even though we saw all those gorgeous real trees at the Christmas Tree Farm. So far our pup has not stopped trying to pull the tinsel off, which is cute but a little frustrating too! Let’s just say the poor pup is spending a lot of time in the kitchen and doesn’t seem to understand the word ‘no’.
The weather was gorgeous on Saturday and I was so pleased I had pre-booked tickets for Hughenden Manor and the Peter Rabbit Trail. We love visits to Hughenden Manor and we had so much fun exploring the trail, picking up some Christmas presents in the gift shop and trying out the new woodland playground.
Over the weekend I managed some crafting time. I’m working my way through all the gingerbread kits I bought and made gingerbread men and shortbread Christmas trees from a mix I bought at Waitrose. The gingerbread turned out rock hard so I’ve made them into tree ornaments. I also stitched some Liberty ornaments whilst enjoying The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix. Have you watched it yet?
Have a great weekend!

December 7, 2020 at 9:45 pmThe gingerbread men look lovely! I’ve never made gingerbread myself but I bought a set to get baking closer to Christmas.
Our elves thankfully only have to move at weekends when my step daughters are here! After 8 years it’s nice to go to bed without worrying about putting them out!

December 8, 2020 at 8:44 amYour gingerbread men and shortbread look so good, I made some chocolate chip shortbread stars but they don’t look as pretty as yours! I think having Christmas tree’s is what I am not looking forward to about next year when we hopefully have kittens x

December 8, 2020 at 12:16 pmLoveing your selection of cookies, I need to get baking myself. Hopefully you will be able to get a real tree up next year, we are using the plastic one this year as we have had it for years and don’t want to discard it

December 8, 2020 at 5:15 pmWe decided on a fake tree this year too, we’ve had real the last few years but last year ours started dying like 2 weeks before Christmas and it put us off a bit this year! Your gingerbread and shortbread look delicious and I love the sound of all your different advent calendars, I went for a Lindt one this year! x
