Elf on the Shelf playing Elf Twister
Monday Happy List

Monday Happy List {Week 270}

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday Happy List {Week 270}

Last week I visited The Gingerbread City 2019 at Somerset House. Organised by the Museum of Architecture, it aims to connect the public with architecture in an exciting way – via the medium of gingerbread! There were some amazing creations and it’s a really fun exhibition to see with kids. It’s open until 5th January id you are looking for something to do in London over the holidays.

Whilst I was in London I used my National Art Pass to see Troy: myth and reality at the British Museum. It tells the story of a great city, plunged into a 10-year war over the abduction of the most beautiful woman in the world. It was a great exhibition with some fabulous pieces of art and archaeology on display.

My daughter has now been a Beaver Scout for 2 year and was awarded her Chief Scout’s Bronze Award last week. She was really happy to receive a certificate and badge and is looking forward to trying Cub Scouts in the New Year.

It really felt like we got through a lot last week. My son was off school for a few days following an operation which meant I had to take time off work too. He was able to come with me when I voted in the general election. As he was off school for a few days we did a lot of crafting, including making elf painted rocks and baking and decorating a gingerbread house. I finished off a few Christmas presents using my Cricut Maker, and the children attended a few festive art workshops whilst we shopped at our local Farmers Market.

We had a busy week making sure our Elf on the Shelf had something fun to do every day. Last weeks adventures included setting up a rock painting station, making a Minecraft mask, playing mini Connect 4, and playing Elf Twister with the children’s Star Wars figures.

A few more days and we all finish school and the Christmas holidays can begin!
