Monday mindfulness – Summer holidays {Week 2}

crystal ball photography

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the school summer holidays. The weather has been a little too hot for us but that hasn’t stopped us from having fun during the second week of the holidays. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – Summer holidays (Week 2)

We started off the week in Wiltshire and enjoyed exploring the Westbury White Horse and Silbury Hill on the way back to London. These are some of our favourite places and the weather was the perfect temperature for a walk. My husband bought me a crystal ball which we used to take some fun photographs with.

Back in London and we had a lovely playdate at Jurassic Perk which is a local dinosaur themed soft play cafe. We’ve also carried on with the Summer Reading Challenge, both kids are on Week 3 and enjoyed some of the special events. My son got his Blue Peter badge after sending a piece of art he produced for Father’s Day earlier this year. He was really happy to receive it as he’s quite creative and enjoyed working on his canvas.

fun at Kids Run Free

On Saturday we finally made it to our local Kids Run Free park run. My 6 year old just loves running and I thought she may enjoy the chance to try an organised run. It was really relaxed with an 100m route and the children were able to run it at their own pace. My daughter became quite competitive and ran 18 laps, getting an elastic band each time to mark each lap. My 8 year old had a go too. We followed this with a football lesson as we found a club running over the school holidays. My daughter had a great time as she wants to try football club at school. She learned so much in those 2 hours and can’t wait to go again. I’m not sure my son was so happy but at least he went.

It feels like a short week as we had a few days at home but we’ve done a little crafting along the way. I love the embroidered necklace I stitched from Mollie Makes. I finished The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton which was just amazing. I’ve also been busy completing my Harry Potter and Incredible Beasts minifig collection. I have 21 out of the 22, just the rare Percival Graves figures left to collect.

Harry Potter minfigs complete set?

We finished off our weekend with a trip to go and watch Incredibles 2 which was really good. We’ve been reviewing some fantastic Incredibles 2 toys from Jakks Pacific and the Disney Store so the kids loved watching the film. Yesterday we had our annual visit to Legoland Windsor. I admit I’m pretty exhausted.

Bring on Week 3 of the school holidays!

    It’s great she loves running. Developing good habits from an young age is fab. Good luck with the Summer Reading Challenge.
