Minecraft inspired wall art

My lovely 7 year old will be turning 8 tomorrow. It’s such a cliche but time is going far too quickly and he is growing up and becoming such a lovely independent young person. He adores Minecraft so I made him some Minecraft inspired wall art as a handmade birthday gift.

How to make Minecraft inspired wall art

I decided which words I wanted to frame and opted for Eat, Sleep, Mine. I have a huge stash of Scrabble letters, which I also sell in my Etsy shop, so picked out the ones I needed.

I didn’t have any Minecraft paper so looked online for some pixel inspired paper, found some I liked and downloaded it. I printed a sheet on to plain paper. If I was making this again I would print it on to thicker card to make it a little stronger

I removed the glass from the box frame and used it to draw around the pixel paper to the correct size. I glued it onto a piece of card to make it stronger, using Bostik Blu Tak Fast Tak Repositionable Spray Glue.

Whilst that was drying I switched the hot glue on to warm up and lined my Scrabble tiles. I dabbed a small amount of glue to the back of each tile and carefully placed it on to the Minecraft paper, making sure the letters were in the right order and in a straight line.

I added the three words Eat, Sleep, Mine, with one word on top of the other and left it to dry. A little while later I was able to place the glass in the frame, add the card and letters and close the back of the frame.

I think it makes a great gift for a Minecraft fan, it would also make a lovely handmade Father’s Day gift. You can add any words you like, or even a name as long as there is a corresponding Scrabble tile!

I love this! I think a handmade gift shows real effort on the part of the giver and means more to the recipient. I made my sister a keyring using hama beads as part of her birthday gift and she really appreciated it. BTW what do you sell in your etsy shop?
