It’s been a while since I tried a subscription box just for me. I suppose I haven’t really found any that I’ve wanted to try regularly. But when I received an email about the Summer Craftpod box I immediately signed up as it was all about cacti and moths! You can read what I thought about the Spring Craftpod box here. I find it hard to make time for me but a Craftpod box landing on my doormat immediately makes me shut my laptop and get making.
Summer Craftpod Sub Box
The Craftpod is a lovely subscription box. Inside the Summer issue were templates and materials to make two soft sculptures – a cactus pincushion and soft sculpture moth. There were 2 postcards illustrated by Eleanor Longhurst of Little Paisley Designs, as well as an Earl Grey pyramid teabag from Canton Tea Co.
The first thing I stitched was the pincushion cactus. It came together easily and I love that the pin heads make the little colourful flowers.
The soft sculpture moth took a little longer. My eyes seem to be deteriorating lately – guess who just got her first pair of glasses! – and I found it a little tricky to stitch white thread on white linen. I was super pleased with the result though.
I bought this box as a one off for £18.00. It was a little expensive for me but I knew I wanted to make both of the crafts and the materials are all really lovely and good quality. I was a bit gutted that I threw away the toy stuffing after I had made the pincushion. I didn’t know I needed it to make the moth! There was a large piece of green wool fibre which was in my box. There was no mention of it so I’m not quite sure what to do with it yet!

How cool, there’s so many subscription boxes out there, that there is something for everyone now. Eyes deteriorating or not, you did a good job with these!
This is such a good idea to get crafty at home when you’re bored or have nothing to do. I’ll have to check the box out and maybe subscribe!
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love the cactus pincushion! Unfortunately, I just don’t have the patience for crafting x
That’s a shame. I find it the perfect antidote to spending time on my laptop!
What a great idea, love a bit of crafting. The pin cushion cactus looks awesome :)x
