Regular readers will know just how much we adore the world of Roald Dahl. My 7 year old has been working his way through his books so we were delighted to receive an invitation to afternoon tea at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden to hear more about the Splendiferous Summer With Mr Kipling.
Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden
We’ve visited the Roald Dahl Museum before. It’s a wonderful place and a really interactive day out for families and fans of Roald Dahl. The children loved the galleries where they could find out more about Roald Dah’s life and see inside his famous Writing Hut. The Story Centre is a favourite of ours and a really inspiring place. We were able to create at the Ideas Table, have a go at stop motion animation as well as relax with some colouring and listen to a talk about Roald Dahl.
My children were so happy and excited as the atmosphere is just fantastic at the Roald Dahl Museum. We were also able to expand our visit by following the Village Trail (pick up a special leaflet at the museum!). This was a great way to see some of the special places around Great Missenden which inspired the author, from the local library which Matilda visited, to the red petrol pumps which are described in Danny the Champion of the World. Our walk ended at the Church of St Peter and Paul where Roald Dahl was buried in 1990, which was surprisingly moving.
