Killer apps for Halloween

Posted on October 18, 2011February 24, 2025 by jenny

October’s been yet another busy month at Night & Day Studios which means they’ve got some killer apps ready just in time for Halloween. We went on a long car journey to Devon at the weekend so we were very happy to have some new apps for Edward to play with. We really enjoyed trying them out, read on for your own chance to grab a new app!

Turn scary into silly this Halloween when Ed Emberley’s beloved and best-selling book, Go Away, Big Green Monster!, comes to iPhone and iPad. Cleverly die-cut with bold colours and overlapping pages just like the book, this app progressively reveals and then removes each piece of the Big Green Monster – putting all the power in the child’s hands.

With the Make Your Own Masked Warriors app, fans of the show can channel the spirit of the fight to create an authentic mask by taking a picture of themselves then choosing the colour, style and design of the mask. Pick from a variety of pre-made masks, or design one from scratch. Then put the masked creation on a wrestling fighting poster and pick an actual opponent from MTV’s Lucha Libre USA wrestling team to battle! Available for iPhone. Check out Edward’s new look!

Although not Halloween-themed, but just as worthy of a mention, is a second Eric Carle app, starring the most famous caterpillar in the world! Who isn’t a fan of the Very Hungry Caterpillar?! Counting With the Caterpillar helps build a basic maths skills over five levels of increasing difficulty, utilizing different skills. The Caterpillar asks you to eat familiar foods from The Very Hungry Caterpillar book. Tap on them to punch out a hole, and find out if you got it right. Available for iPhone and iPad and our absolute favourite!
