competition - days out

Winnie the Pooh

Do you know a child who doesn’t like Winnie the Pooh? I have fond childhood memories of the Winnie the Pooh stories so was delighted to be asked to a special screening of the Winnie the Pooh film at Disney HQ yesterday organised by HUGGIES. When we arrived we were greeted by very big models of Pooh, Piglet and Tigger which Edward spent a happy time running around. He’s never still for a second these days so I haven’t uploaded any of the photos I took of him which were all blurred.

We were ushered into a screening room for the film and I quickly realised that Edward wouldn’t be able to sit on the cinema seats as they kept trying to eat him up. After I had re-arranged him on my lap the film began, preceded by two animated shorts: Cubby’s Goldfish and The Ballad of Nessie.

This was Edward’s first cinema trip and he must have sensed that when the lights went down it was time to get comfy and watch the film. He was very well behaved and even laughed out loud at the adventures of Pooh Bear and friends. Without giving the film away, it focuses on Pooh’s quest for honey to fill his empty tummy and the residents of Hundred Acre Wood looking for Christopher Robin who, they think, has been kidnapped. The film is based on three stories from the wonderful books by AA Milne.

We both enjoyed the film which isn’t just an animation. At some points in the story the characters are seen within the pages of the book and even the letters become involved in the story. A lovely nostalgic film which I can imagine Edward will want to see again!

  15. Oh my favourite is Eeyore! He reminds me a little of myself with his silly negativity and glumness but he really makes me laugh. I always wants to pick him up and give him a great big cuddle!

  16. Eeyore was always my favourite. He was always so glum and negative – my brother always said I was negative, but I believe realistic. You always need someone like Eeyore to offset the nuttiness of Tigger!
