A good nights sleep is so important. My bed is my favourite place and I love nothing better than sinking into it at the end of the day. We use the Silentnight Anti-Snore pillows and they are lovely and comfortable.

I am so happy to have teamed up with Silentnight and give you the chance to win a pair of Silentnight Pure Cotton Pillows. These lovely pillows have a 100% cotton percale cover and are filled with a clever anti-allergy, silk-like hollowfibre, for reassuring comfort and softness.

They are washable up to a temperature of 40°C and come with a 2-year guarantee. Perfect for freshening up your bedroom in these warmer Summer months.

These pillows are exclusive to QVC and will be online at www.qvcuk.com for 24 hours only next Thursday 27th July, from midnight onwards, selling for just £17.98. With an RRP of £26.99, this gives a saving of almost 33%!

I find getting ready for bed at least an hour beforehand helps get you in the mindset, especially if you are normally a busy person. Having a wash, brushing my teeth, making sure the house in in order and then deliberately reading a book or watching a programme for an hour to enjoy the peace and quiet helps me unwind and nod off. And the bedroom must be cold, not only for the fresh air but it makes snuggling under the duvet much more attractive!

Try to go to sleep and get up at the same time everyday, get as much natural sunlight as possible, move vigorously during the day – don’t sit for more than an hour, limit caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and big meals at night, take time for relaxing activities before sleep and create a calm and restful sleep environment.

The latest scientific study about getting a good night’s sleep says the best thing is having a purpose in life to wake up for the following day. It’s true: when I’m following my favourite band on the road, I get fewer hours’ sleep than when I’m grinding away at the boring day job where I’m not respected, but I feel like I’ve slept better and am more able to face the day.

In order to get a good night’s sleep, you need to switch off, so shut down your laptop/tablet and switch off the TV at least 30 minutes before bed. Have a nice warm bath and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil like lavender. Go up to bed and read a chapter or two of a good book and before you turn off the light, add a few more drops of essential oil to your pillow.
