Washi tape Valentine heart bookmarks

We love crafting with washi tape. A few years ago I went crazy buying it and we still have so much of it. The good thing is that it is still sticky and perfect for crafting with. It’s especially fun for the children as they can just tear the tape with their fingers, no need for scissors!

With Valentine’s Day coming up it is a great time to start on handmade Valentine’s Day cards and gifts. We always make them for the family and this year have made simple washi tape Valentine hearts bookmarks.

We used:
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
Washi tape in reds and pinks
Scissors
Pencil
White card

These are quick and fun to make. First we drew around the heart cookie cutter and covered it with tape. However we found we quickly couldn’t see the outlineĀ of the hearts so instead just covered a rough area with a variety of tapes.

We tried making different patterns of stripes and some random arrangements! The children enjoyed this part the most. When they had finished we placed the cookie cutter over the top, drew around it and cut it out.

We managed to squeeze 6 hearts from a sheet of A4 card

We used a glu dot to add them to the top of a craft stick to make bookmarks. Pretty and useful too!

It’s so much nicer to receive a handmade Valentine’s Day (or any occasion) card. And using a cookie cutter for creating themed shapes is such a clever idea. Tx
