I didn’t have time to bake any gingerbread biscuits for Valentine;’s Day this year so I cheated (and saved myself some time) by picking up a little box of heart biscuits from M&S. Honestly I spent dar too much money in M&S but they have the nicest treats, especially for Christmas and Easter. I’m pretty sure I remember buying the same biscuit kit last year, but it’s something my daughter always enjoys and makes a fun after school activity.

They have pulled it out of the bag (again) and I think their biscuit kit makes a great date night treat for you and your bestie. Their 10 Decorate Your Own Heart Biscuits kit contains 10 delicious shortbread biscuits, a pink and red icing pen and some inspiration on how to decorate your biscuits.

I do love a craft kit and enjoy a baking kit just as much as an embroidery one. M&S food is usually delicious and everyone in our house enjoys shortbread, although they would obvious prefer gingerbread. The heart shaped biscuits were quite chunky so we laid them out and warmed up the icing pens by rolling them between our palms.

Then we snipped the end off the icing pen and got to work icing our biscuits. My daughter was inspired by the patterns on the box, but came up with some of her own ideas too. Unfortunately we didn’t have any sprinkles but you could easily add any edible decorations you have at home.

There was plenty of icing for the 10 heart shaped biscuits and we decorated them in all kinds of styles. My daughter loved the flavour of the icing and ended up finishing off the left over icing 🙂

We placed the decorated biscuits on a plate and left the icing to harden for a short time before calling all the family to enjoy them. They tasted great and didn’t last long. The pack was £2.50 which was great value for an afternoon treat.
