I can’t believe we’re already at the letter U in our weekly A-Z Play at Home blog hop. The letter U was an easy one for me as the weather is very autumnal and I’ve been carrying an umbrella with me at all times!
Today I’m sharing our super sweet umbrella paper plate craft for kids.
We used:
paper plates
contact paper
coloured cellophane sheets
scissors
I drew the outline of an umbrella on the paper plate, making sure there was a generous edge around it.
I cut it out and we covered one side with contact paper. Then my children were let loose with the coloured cellophane! My 5 year old chose blue as that’s her favourite colour. My 7 year old went with colourful stripes.
When they had finished I covered the other side of the sun catcher with more contact paper, and trimmed around the edge. We’ve hung them on the door to the garden to bring some colour on a rather drab day.
I hope you enjoyed our paper plate umbrella sun-catcher. See what others have been making inspired by the letter U:

This is a lovely arts and crafts idea and given the weather very appropriate. I must suggest this to my sons nursery the kids would love to make these I’m sure. Thanks for the great idea!
