What makes the perfect family board game? {Ticket To Ride Europe}

Ticket To Ride Europe

With dozens of international awards and over 6 Million games sold, the Ticket to Ride series is one of the most popular modern board game series to date! Someone recommended it to us last year and I bought a copy for my husband’s birthday. It was the US version and has given us hours of fun as a family.

Have you heard of Ticket to Ride? It’s a cross-country train adventure where players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities. I mentioned the other day that we had teamed up with Asmodee and joined their Blogger Board Game Club. They kindly sent us Ticket to Ride Europe to review which we were all pretty excited to open and play!

Ticket To Ride Europe

From the craggy hillsides of Edinburgh to the sunlit docks of Constantinople, from the dusty alleys of Pamplona to windswept station in Berlin, Ticket to Ride Europe takes you on an exciting train adventure through the great cities of turn-of-the-century Europe.

Ticket To Ride Europe

Ticket to Ride Europe is slightly different to the Ticket to Ride version we had previously played. It included train stations, tunnels and ferries. There are also slightly larger cards, new Train Station game pieces and of course a lovely, illustrated board.

As we were families with the Ticket to Ride game it didn’t take us long to play Ticket to Ride Europe. We love the addition of the stations and tunnels which makes for a really exciting game. I usually play with my 6 year old (who loves to be in charge of the cards) against my husband and 8 year old. It’s a brilliant game of strategy and decision making.

What makes the perfect family board game?

We haven’t picked up our original Ticket to Ride since we received this game to play, and I’m not sure we will any time soon. I love the addition of the stations and tunnels which have definitely added a layer of fun for us all! What makes the perfect family board game? For us it’s a game which the whole family can play, which isn’t too complicated yet challenges all ages, and everyone enjoys. We have definitely found that the Ticket to Ride range ticks all of these for us.
