Ever since the children were born we’ve enjoyed reading festive books at Christmas. I started a Book Advent for them when they were born (you’re never too young to enjoy a book!) and we’ve carried on the tradition ever since. I love updating the books as the children get older. This year we are delighted to be reading The Enchanted Christmas Treasury which is aimed at readers aged five to eight. It features stories of ninja nans, brave pups and fallen angels finding their way back to the top of the Christmas tree, in tales that will charm everyone.
The Enchanted Christmas Treasury
Children will be delighted by the whimsical characters, enchanted settings, and heartwarming messages contained in each of the pages. The best part? The magic will transport children and parents alike to a world of enchantment and wonder, as they read together and create special memories lasting a lifetime.
All the proceeds raised from sales of The Enchanted Christmas Treasury will help fund the work of SENStory, a UK-wide not-for-profit Community Interest Company, helping children, young people, and families with Special Educational Needs navigate their journeys in nature through therapy, play, learning and training opportunities.
The Enchanted Christmas Treasury collaborative book project has been curated by Abigail Horne, the Founder of Authors & Co. Abigail’s story about a fallen angel is also featured. She says, “The Enchanted Christmas Treasury celebrates the spirit of inclusivity, diversity, and kindness – themes that are especially important during the holiday season. Bringing together these twenty-four authors from all over the world, to create and write such beautiful stories has been so special – as I know what a lasting impact this project can and will have.”
Stories in The Enchanted Christmas Treasury include:
Angel’s Attic Adventure – Abigail Horne
When an accident leaves Angel, Drummer Boy, and Little Bear in the attic instead of on the Christmas tree, they must learn to work together to get where they belong as the most glorious ornaments on the tree. Angel learns that other decorations are equally as important too.
A Super Krish-mas – Bhavin Bhagalia
Being the new kid at school can be scary. So scary that Krish wishes he was a superhero, not afraid of anything. But when faced with a real-life problem, Krish realises that not all heroes wear capes and even the new kid can be brave.
A Christmas Song – Nicola J Rowley
Aria loves music but has never sung a note or spoken a word. When Santa and his elves need Aria’s help, she must find her voice to bring the wonder back to Christmas.
Dylan the Wonder Dog at Christmas – Jo McMeechan
Christmas is a wonderful time, but for Charley it is also loud and scary and confusing. Luckily Charley has the fantastic assistance dog, Dylan, to help navigate the season.
The Enchanted Christmas Treasury was published in hardback on 2nd November 2023 priced at £24.99 and will be available on Amazon, Waterstones.com and authorsandco. It has been edited by the wordsmiths from Book Forge, Deanne Adams and Hazel Hitchens and illustrated by Esme Talbot of Scruffy Little Herbert.
