    My Sew A Little Happiness Every Day sampler

    I know that lockdown isn’t over at all but last week, my son returned to school for a very few hours, and it felt like that phase of our life was over. At the start of lockdown Sarah from Pretty Fabrics & Trims mentioned she was going to start a 20″ square sampler, adding some stitches to it every day. It was a bit of a community project as everyone was invited to join in, and you could share your progress on Instagram using #SewALittleHappinessEveryDay. I really wanted to join in but find it hard to focus and finish projects…

    Make your own fabric cord cover

    My tween is enjoying keeping in touch with friends whilst we are at home. We’ve always been pretty strict about screen time but we’ve had to be a lot more relaxed about that since he is unable to go to school. He already had a tablet and phone but we’ve also set him up with a computer so he can access his home learning in his bedroom. All this tech means he has a lot of cables in his room. In a bid to keep it all tidy we had fun making a fabric cord cover. He enjoys sewing and…

    Sewing in i-sew-lation: my Shipping Forecast quilt

    So I finally finished something! The Shipping Forecast quilt I started (a long time ago) is finally finished and I have to admit that I feel a bit flat without my long-term WIP hanging around. My last update was in March when I had pinned the three layers of my quilt sandwich together. I knew it wouldn’t take me long to finish it. The fabric I had originally bought wasn’t really long enough to use as binding, and my quilt backing shrunk a little as I quilted the layers. I trimmed the edges to make sure they were neat and…

    My hands making: Felt dinosaur pincushion

    Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Felt dinosaur pincushion Back in Feb I made the cute Kitty Keyring from Issue 115. Issue 116 came with Jenny Blair’s dino pincushion kit. The kit included felt, embroidery thread, a needle, and toy stuffing. Working with felt is fun and I enjoyed making…

    The Shipping Forecast quilt {update 6}

    Last week my son was sick so spent a day at home with me. He spent most of the day lying on the sofa, watching tv, which meant I needed to find something to do. My Shipping Forecast quilt had been sitting in the corner, looking at me, so it seemed like the perfect time to get it out and work on it. The Shipping Forecast quilt I love listening to The Shipping Forecast on Radio 4. Before my children came along I used to stay up late, listening to it before bed. Now I’m in bed a lot earlier…

I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. I know I’m always blaming our little pup but I haven’t had much time to craft this year. I enjoyed making Issue 112’s cute Festive Pup kit. Issue 113 was a mini floral winter banner which I do want to make at some point;…

    My Shipping Forecast quilt update (update 5)

    I started writing this post over 2 months ago but Christmas obviously got in the way. I made sure to spend some time on my Shipping Forecast quilt recently, so wanted to post a little update about it. My Shipping Forecast quilt update About 6 months ago I finished my Shipping Forecast quilt top. I can’t believe I never made time to blog about this! You may remember I added the Shipping Forecast areas using my Cricut machine and some pretty gold coloured iron on vinyl. After the names were pressed in place I was able to add all the felt…

I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. To say I’m a bit behind would be an understatement. Issue 108 contained a paper flower wall hanging kit which you would have thought would be right up my street. I started but never finished it. Issue 109 was the Felt Dandy Lion which…

    Felt Dandy Lion {a weekend sewing project}

Issue 109 came with a sweet felt craft kit to make a lion – perfect! I’m a bit behind. Issue 107 contained a crochet kit which I donated to a friend as I can’t crochet. Issue 108 contained a paper flower wall hanging…
