All opinions are mine alone. #collectivebias #mums4tommys School holidays or not I seem to spend a huge amount of my time washing clothes. Fortunately, one of my favourite smells is clean washing. Certain smells trigger some memories. One of my earliest blog posts was about the amount of washing my son made. In his first few months he brought up a lot of his feed after each bottle so we had muslins everywhere. I was always washing baby clothes during those first few months of his life. My…

A couple of weeks ago I was at the V&A and found a great template for making envelopes. I’ve collected a few vintage annuals and magazines and thought this would be a lovely way to give them a new lease of life. The template couldn’t be easier to use. I found some pages from an old Rupert the Bear annual, drew around the template and cut out the shapes. I followed the instructions on the template and folded the paper into an envelope. You need to be quite precise with your folding otherwise you’re left with a small gap. However,…

We have a fresh water tropical tank which my husband gives a lot of attention to. We recently received a parcel of crafting goodies from Baker Ross to keep us going through the summer holidays and as soon as I saw a pack of Tropical Fish Foam stickers I knew what we could make – our own tank full of little fishes. Materials you will need to make a fish tank Cardboard box Baker Ross Tropical Fish Foam Stickers Blue paint Blue and green felt or craft foam Sticky dots How to make a cardboard box fish tank I cut…

Last Christmas I made a fun Christmas tree from vintage folding rulers. I’m not sure I ever blogged about it but it left me with quite a few pieces of vintage rulers to play with. I thought a little tray would be a good use of some of the pieces. There are always bunches of keys and receipts lying around so I thought a tray would be useful to tidy up our hall. Upcycled folding ruler tray materials: Hardboard Vintage folding ruler PVA wood glue Sand paper How to make an upcycled folding ruler tray: I re-used a folding ruler…

I love the idea of making my own stamps. I’ve already tried a couple of things, such as shaping the rubber on the end of a pencil to make a bunting stamp. I also made stamps from craft foam and old bottle tops. This weeks’ effort involved recycling styrofoam sheets, we used the ones from ready-made pizzas, and printing hearts with styrofoam. Equipment needed to make hearts with Styrofoam: pointed end of a ballpoint pen lid wooden heart styrofoam sheet (we used one from a pizza box) red paint white paper I pressed quite heavily and made sure I went…

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser. I’m a Diet Coke addict and have been since I was pregnant. I dread to think how many cans and bottles I have drunk my way through and placed in the recycling bin over the last few years. Which is why I was really interested to read about the new PlantBottle plastic on the Coca Cola website which contains 22.5 per cent plant materials (renewable resources that will grow again) and combined…

Our routine has been established since my little man started nursery sessions every afternoon. When he gets home he’s quite tired but still wants to craft so I’ve started setting up a craft activity ready for when he gets home. Anything using cardboard rolls is generally a success as we have a ready supply of them, so yesterday we did some painting with recycled cardboard flowers. Painting with recycled cardboard flowers We used: cardboard tubes scissors paint I took some cardboard tubes from my stash and cut them in half. Then I cut them again, about an inch down, to…

We still have a plethora of toilet rolls in our recycling drawer so I thought it was about time we used them. Halloween is fast approaching so what better than a Halloween pumpkin. Yes, it is possible! Simple toilet roll pumpkins First of all my 3 year old painted a couple of toilet rolls with orange paint. We left them to dry and I cut out leaves from coloured paper. We used our fab Ralph the Dog to stick the leaves to the tube. Ralph is the new fun Scotch Magic Tape Dispenser Dog from Scotch 3M. My son loves…

Our house has one little girl who has recently discovered the magical world of fairies. We don’t get to do much crafting thanks to her older, louder brother, so I thought it would be fun to make something together. We had some cardboard clothes cartons leftover from our house move so flattened one to use the cardboard. Little Sis lay down and we drew a rough shape round her for wings. We cut them out and painted them with red paint. Whilst the paint was drying we made a very special fairy wand. We raided the craft cupboard for corrugated…
