    February crafting

February is such a short month and I think that’s reflected in my crafting time this month. Plus I had half term and Covid which meant I didn’t spend as much time on my crafting hobbies as I would have liked. However I still wanted to blog about my crafting adventures this month. February crafting At the beginning of the month I made a sleep mask out of some gorgeous Liberty fabrics. I love crafting with Liberty fabrics and surrounding myself with pretty, and useful, items. Choosing what Liberty fabrics to use made me think of the Liberty tumbler quilt…

I love stitching with Liberty London fabrics. I have a little stash which I love to use when I’m sewing. I’ve been thinking about making some re-useable face wipes for a while. DIY Union Jack Liberty flag

Did you know that there was a ‘right’ way to hang a Union Jack? Apparently an upside-down Union Jack is used as a sign of distress. Even worse, it can be seen as offensive to some! Last week I was playing around with some of my gorgeous Liberty London Tana Lawn to create a fun Union Jack Liberty flag. The union Jack has so much history behind it, incorporating the English and Scottish flags with the cross of Ireland’s St Patrick. DIY Union Jack Liberty flag I had the idea to make my own DIY Union Jack flag from my…

Easy no sew Liberty fabric pumpkins

I wanted to do something a little different with my Halloween decorations this year. As the children get older they seem to enjoy simpler decorations. I’ve already had a good sort out of our Halloween decorations, getting them down from 3 boxes to 1! I’m not sure how we ended up with so many things but I was very happy to drop them off at the charity shop today. I came across some small papier mache pumpkins I had picked up a few years ago but never got round to using. When I spotted a box of Liberty scraps I…

Liberty heart banner with kantha stitch

My favourite craft is anything which combines using beautiful Liberty fabrics and English Paper Piecing. Earlier this year I made a sweet EPP Liberty heart and framed it in an embroidery hoop. I wanted to make something similar in different colours so I could try decorating it with kantha stitch. What is kantha? Kantha is an ancient form of hand-stitched embroidery which originated in India. The word kantha means “rags” in Sanskrit, reflecting a tradition of using discarded clothing or garments to recycle into something new, such as bed coverings or clothes. Kantha can also refer to stitching fabrics together…
