I haven’t posted many of the crafts we have made lately but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. After school is our special time to craft, and with the evenings noticeably longer, we have been painting Spring flowers. The children chose their favourite colours, I gathered some card and a variety of forks and we started our Spring flower craft. Have you ever tried painting with forks? It may sound a little crazy but the shape is perfect for making tulips! Painted Spring flower craft for kids You will need: green paint and a couple of different colours for…

With Mother’s Day coming up soon I thought I should make a head start on some handmade gifts to give the ladies in our family. A couple of weeks ago I visited the Spring Knitting & Knitting Show where I picked up some gorgeous pieces of Liberty Lawn fabric. At the time I didn’t have a project in mind but the fabrics were too good to stay hidden in my fabric cupboard. In fact they didn’t even get put away as I’ve already used them to make some sweet fabric tissue holders. To make your own you will need: Self…

Last moth the February EmbellishBox for papercutters popped through my letterbox. I really like the box so took out a monthly subscription! Now I never have to worry about forgetting to order a box. The February box had a theme – Always Tea Time. Inside were 3 x tea-time templates and an Always Tea Time House to add to my growing collection. As well as the templates were some extra bits. I love the tea pot stand which I’m using as an over-sized coaster, some tea, badge and a special iced biscuit which my children took. The box included 3 x…

Last week I received my usual box of crafting supplies to take part in the March Bostik Bloggers craft challenge. The theme was Easter which is perfect as I have been itching to get started on some Spring time crafts. This month our box included the wonderful Fine & Wide Glu Pen as well as a packet of white Blu Tack, both really useful crafting products. I decided to make some little Easter treat jars for my children. They love Easter, who doesn’t with all that chocolate, so I thought some cute little bunny jars would go down well. I…

Last month, on February 6, the anniversary of the day she became Queen, Elizabeth II has reigned for 65 years. She is the first British monarch to reach their Sapphire Jubilee, with royal gun salutes to mark the historic day. I heard some rumours that we might be getting a public holiday this year to celebrate her Sapphire Jubilee. This would be great for the children. I don’t remember celebrating the Queen’s Silver Jubilee back in 1977 as I was too young but it’s always fun to create memories at special occasions. The Royal Mint is marking the 65th anniversary with…

Spring is the perfect time for crafting. My husband has Irish ancestry so we quite like to mark St Patrick’s Day. We love recycling and raided our stash of corks to make this fun St Patrick’s Day cork craft. We used: 3 recycled wine corks a rubber band green paint card St Patrick’s Day cork craft for kids This is the perfect after school craft as you only need a few things. Take your corks and wrap the rubber band around them. Make sure the band is nice and tight, and also make sure that all the corks are flat…

I have two very crafty children who were delighted to receive the new stationery and activity subscription box from Mila & Pheebs. My 5 year old is currently learning all about the farm, and has a school visit planned later this month, so we had a lot of fun exploring the box together. The March Mila & Pheebs sub box had the theme Fun at the Farm. The Fun at the Farm box This sub box is lovely and slim and fitted nicely through our letterbox. It was waiting for them when they got home from school. They both love receiving…

It’s been a busy week but all week I’ve been looking forward to visiting The Spring Knitting and Stitching Show at Olympia. It’s been a few years since I last went but you can never have enough fabric shopping. I deposited the children at school, hopped on the tube and found myself outside London Olympia. The Spring Knitting and Stitching Show is pretty similar to the other Knitting and Stitching Show I frequently go to at Ally Pally. This year it’s on between the 2nd-5th March and sells itself as the definitive event for anyone with a love of textile based…

You all know that I love my monthly subscription boxes. I find that a monthly magazine and subscription box landing on my door mat really encourages me to be creative. I find it hard to see projects through (hello Shipping Forecast Quilt project!) but a monthly sub box is the perfect size for me. I was kindly sent a Craftiosity Sub Box to review. It’s a subscription box of modern craft kits (with single kits also available), with a completely new craft and make every other month. A lovely box was handed to me by my postie (it’s too large to…
