Yesterday we were invited to a really special immersive screening of the last film in the How To Train Your Dragon franchise, The Hidden World from Universal UK. My children have grown up with the How To Train Your Dragon books and films (see our review of the Playmobil How To Train Your Dragon range here) so we couldn’t wait to see a preview of the film and find out what would happen to our favourite characters, Hiccup and Toothless. An immersive screening experience and the Isle of Berk I don’t think we’ve ever been to an immersive screening before…

I mentioned the other day that my youngest finally discovered the joy of reading over Christmas. It was if a lightbulb had switched on and she realised just how good it was to read independently. We’ve always shared books, both during the day and at bedtime, but now I find she always has her head in a book! If she can snatch an extra 5 minutes in bed with a good book then she will. It’s lovely to see, especially as her brother is like this too. I love sharing new books on my blog so am delighted to have…

I know that we haven’t even had Christmas yet but my thoughts are already turning to the New Year. I don’t go for New Year’s Resolutions at all but one thing I do want to try next year is a little bit of journalling and making more notes about my children. It’s a well known fact that children grow up far too quickly. Today I wanted to share with you something that could help you note the milestones, The Not-So-New Mum’s Notebook. The Not-So-New Mum’s Notebook The Not-So-New Mum’s Notebook is every mum’s essential companion and journal beyond the first year – whether…

I have been busy trying to find suitable stocking fillers for my children this week. I love putting the Christmas stockings together but we have really large ones which need lots of little things! I have finished my husband’s one thanks to a recent collaboration and don’t forget to pop over for your chance to win the same items. Both my children love stationery so it’s pretty easy to find them something they will like. I really like to try and find presents that are useful and follow the ‘something you want, something you need, something to wear and something…

I love reading a book with my children, especially at bedtime. My daughter loves picture books and I couldn’t wait to share Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Monster with her. From the team behind Ten Minutes to Bed Little Unicorn, it’s all about a little monster who would rather do anything but sleep. . . sound familiar? I have a sleep thief, her mind is just so active from a day at school that it can be hard to calm her down and get her ready for sleep. Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Monster is a lovely picture book and a perfect…

It’s very British to talk about the weather but I just can’t help it! What happened to the weather this week? It’s been so cold and I’ve been de-icing my car every morning before I drive off to work. Anyway, the cold weather has been keeping us indoors after school so I was pleased to be able to bring out a new film for us all to watch. Join the adorably ambitious “littlest reindeer”, Elliot, this Christmas as he sets his sights on becoming the newest – and tiniest – member of Santa’s reindeer team! The Littlest Reindeer With an…

With Halloween over for another year my thoughts have turned to Christmas. It may seen a little early but we all know that us mums like to be organised and plan! Christmas is the biggest event of the year for our family and I find that a little planning goes a long way to ensure everything runs smoothly. With two young children I admit that Christmas is a lot about the presents. There are the Advent calendars, the ‘big’ Christmas presents and of course the stockings! I’m excited to team up with Rex London who asked me to work with…

With two creative children I need a constant stream of ideas to keep them occupied. Having exhausted our crafting cupboard and my patience I was so thankful when a copy of 10 Step Drawing: Animals landed on our doormat over half term. Both my children love to draw and have endless notebooks full of their scribbles. It was time to take their drawing to the next level and 10 Step Drawing: Animals has been a great introduction for us all. The books aims to help you learn to draw 75 different creatures in an illustrated style, in 10 simple visual steps. 10…
