I saw an amazing DIY at the Hobbycraft press show I attended last month. They had DIY marquee letters in their wedding section and with my son turning 5 later this month I thought I would make a little DIY marquee light in the number 5 for his birthday party. It was a really simple craft but so effective, I know he’s going to love it! Last week my husband celebrated his birthday. I won’t tell you how old he is but it was a big birthday and our celebrations are lasting longer than usual. We’re all a little Minion obsessed at the moment so we held a Minion inspired birthday party. First we had to decorate and used a fun kit from Balloon Time to help us. The Balloon Time Helium Kit contained a portable helium tank, 30 latex balloons and ribbon for £22 which I thought was very reasonable. We bought the kit from Asda and the children couldn’t wait to see how it…

On Friday my beautiful daughter turned 3. The day went by in a bit of a whizz, that’s an understatement, I didn’t sit down til about 8pm. I wanted to document her day as my blog is as much about my children as it is about me any more! After a small lie-in she woke to find a Frozen balloon tied to her bed. We went downstairs where she discovered piles of presents from the Birthday Bunny. She carefully re-arranged them according to the paper they were wrapped in which I thought was funny. She loved opening everything, even her…

I mentioned the other day that I’ve been planning my daughter’s birthday party which will have a Frozen theme. She’s absolutely obsessed, to the point she has to wear her Frozen tshirts and jumpers every day! Fortunatley for her, Tiger Feet Party were able to send us some items for her Frozen birthday party – we have a Frozen branded tablecloth, cups, napkins and plates too. I haven’t shown her yet as I want her party to be a surprise but the items are perfect and she will love them. We also have pink and blue balloons to match the…

I love making my own stationery and with Little Sis celebrating her 2nd birthday soon I wanted to be organised and have some thank you cards ready. Her birthday is only 4 weeks before Christmas and in previous years I’ve sent joint birthday and Christmas thank you cards. Not this year! I was asked to try out Instajunction which is is full of beautiful & unique products and gift ideas, at sensible prices, made using your own Instagram pictures. I just love using Instagram, (are you following me?) and so was really happy to try it out. You can make lots…

The toddler turned 3 a couple of week ago and for the last couple of months has been a little obsessed with the films Cars and Cars 2. He still loves his Thomas the Tank Engine but I’d say every day he’ll spend a little more time with his collection of Cars. Thanks to Christmas and birthday presents he now has quite a collection of both. A bit like his Thomas obsession, he also has to wear Cars-themed clothing, eat and drink from Cars plates and cups and has a bedroom covered in posters of cars! Anyway, for his birthday…

Today the toddler turned 3. We just gave him a couple of presents to open before nursery, unfortunately one of them was a Buzz Lightyear which went off before it was opened, rather giving the game away! He was totally spoilt with some Disney Cars for his collection, a train for his train set, and a wooden bike. His name was read out on cBeebies and he was only a little bemused by the home made Lightning McQueen pinata. We made a special rainbow layer cake which was fun to make, if a little time consuming. Fortunately the weather was…

I just love the way a hand print can be made into anything you want it to. Yesterday Daddy celebrated surviving another year of being a father of two so we thought we would make him a very special card. We carefully painted the palm of the toddlers hand one colour and each finger a different colour to represent a birthday cake and candles. It was actually quite easy and fun, until I turned my back and the toddler started dipping his fingers into the paint pots! Fortunately we had two beautiful hand prints drying so it didn’t matter 🙂…

My daughter turned 1 a couple of weeks ago. We didn’t make a huge fuss as she’s only 1 but we did a couple of things: We visited London Zoo We baked and ate Peppa Pig biscuits We went shopping and bought lots of new pink clothes (no more blue hand me downs from her older brother) We opened piles of presents, one of which was the Blurb photo book I made of her first year. I really love the idea of a photo book. I think I’m a late convert because everyone I’ve spoken to has been making them…
